Track cancellations in YouTube Studio, not in the livestream chat: open Earn > Memberships to review sign-ups and cancellations, then use See More to compare Members Canceled with Members Lost over the dates you choose. They are different stages: a member may cancel but keep perks until their billing period ends.
Where to find membership cancellation data in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio. In the left-hand menu, select Earn > Memberships.
- Review the Memberships tab. It reports sign-ups and cancellations during the displayed billing period and lets you compare with the previous billing period.
- Set the period you need. Select See More, choose a date range covering the stream and the follow-up period, and use the time-series options for Members Canceled and Members Lost.
- Check revenue separately. Go to Analytics > Revenue for the Transactions Revenue card and the Memberships breakdown. The Memberships view supports a custom time period and a video-format filter.
YouTube documents these reporting features on its channel memberships help page. The documented process is general Studio guidance; the India-localized page does not describe a separate India-only cancellation workflow or metric.
Cancellation and loss of access are not the same event
Members Canceled records cancellations. Members Lost counts canceled members after their membership access to perks ends. YouTube defines Total members as including canceled members who still have access to perks, while Active members excludes canceled members. As a result, a total-members snapshot is not an immediate count of cancellations.
A member generally keeps perks through the end of their billing period after canceling and is not charged again unless they reactivate. YouTube says billing periods can be 28, 30, or 31 days, depending on the calendar month; the cancellation date and the date access ends can therefore differ. YouTube also says the unused portion is not refunded. See its billing and payment guidance.

How to interpret the numbers after a continuous stream
- Use cancellations to see when members chose to stop renewing. Compare the relevant date range with your stream schedule, but do not assume timing alone establishes why someone canceled.
- Use Members Lost to understand when canceled memberships stop counting as having access. This can trail cancellations because access may continue until the billing period ends.
- Use revenue measures for transaction context, not as a substitute for cancellation counts. YouTube describes Transactions Revenue as counting transactions such as new sign-ups or recurring payments; that answers a different question from how many members canceled.
- Do not treat live chat as a cancellation report. YouTube documents a green live-chat message for a new join during a stream, but directs creators to the Memberships tab for member information and cancellation reporting.
India-specific context and membership revenue
The workflow above applies to creators in India as well as elsewhere; YouTube’s India-localized creator help page does not specify an India-only cancellation measure. There is no India-specific cancellation-rate figure established in the cited official guidance, so a channel’s own Studio data is the relevant place to assess its cancellations.
YouTube says creators receive 70% of membership revenue recognized by Google after local sales tax and other fees are deducted. The amount depends on country or region and the user’s platform, so this should not be read as a guaranteed India-specific take-home percentage. The qualification is in YouTube’s billing and payment guidance.

If a viewer asks how to cancel
That is a separate, member-side process. YouTube directs viewers to youtube.com/paid_memberships, where they choose the membership, manage it, and select Cancel. Perks remain available through the end of the billing cycle.
