The first two columns reflect Streamlabs Support’s “Streamlabs Desktop System Requirements,” last updated April 8, 2026; the final column reflects its Quick Start Guide, published May 20, 2026. The upload guidance is from the requirements article. These are Streamlabs’ published specifications and guidance, not a guarantee that a particular game, scene or stream setting will run well.
Which Windows version does Streamlabs Desktop require?
Streamlabs’ official pages do not give one consistent Windows minimum. The requirements article and the May 2026 Quick Start Guide list Windows 11. The Streamlabs download page, accessed October 3, 2026, lists Windows 10 or later and macOS 12 or later. The discrepancy is unresolved across those pages.
There is also an internal oddity in the requirements article: it gives Windows 11 as a minimum but Windows 10 in its recommended operating-system entry. Do not treat that recommended Windows entry as proof that Windows 10 is supported in every current release. Check the current installer and support information for the version you plan to use.

Can your computer run Streamlabs Desktop?
If your system is at the published minimum
Use the requirements article’s minimum as a starting point: Windows 11 or macOS 12 or later, and 8 GB of RAM. On macOS, Streamlabs advises version 13 or later for continued long-term support. The requirements article does not specify minimum CPU, GPU, storage capacity or network connection, so it cannot establish a complete minimum hardware profile for every computer.
The Quick Start Guide provides extra minimum-column detail—integrated graphics and 10 GB of hard-drive storage—but that is a separate source and should not be silently merged with the requirements article into a single definitive specification.

If you want more headroom
For the recommended setup in the requirements article, look for 16 GB or more of RAM, a 512 GB or larger SSD, Ethernet, an Intel Core i5 11th or 12th generation or higher or an AMD Ryzen 5000 series or higher, and an NVIDIA RTX 20 or 30 series or AMD RX 5000 or 6000 series GPU. Streamlabs’ Quick Start Guide names AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and higher in its recommended CPU entry.
These recommendations are useful when comparing machines, but do not promise a particular frame rate or stream quality. Streamlabs notes that performance and settings depend on the computer and what you run: resource-intensive games or digital-art work, animated overlays, advanced plugins and other open programs can all affect the load.

How much upload speed do you need?
Streamlabs says 3.6 Mbps or better upload is enough for 720p at 30 fps on most platforms. It recommends Ethernet rather than treating a wired connection as a stated minimum. “Most platforms” matters: the destination service and your chosen output settings may have different requirements. The figure is guidance for that stated resolution and frame rate, not a universal speed target for higher-quality streams.
What to check before upgrading
- Operating system: Confirm the current Streamlabs installer supports your Windows or macOS version, given the conflict among Streamlabs’ pages.
- RAM: Compare installed memory with the 8 GB minimum and 16 GB-or-more recommendation. Before buying an upgrade, check the computer’s supported memory generation, maximum capacity and available slots.
- CPU and GPU: Compare the exact processor and graphics hardware with the recommended families. The requirements article does not specify minimum CPU or GPU models.
- Storage: Check available space and drive type. The requirements article recommends a 512 GB or larger SSD, while the Quick Start Guide separately lists 10 GB of hard-drive storage as a minimum.
- Connection: If possible, use Ethernet and check upload speed against the platform and output settings you intend to use.
- Workload: Account for the game, creative application, overlays, plugins and other programs you plan to run at the same time.
Check the computer manufacturer’s compatibility details before purchasing memory or storage. Streamlabs’ component-family recommendations are not specific upgrade-purchase advice for every desktop or laptop.
