Start by checking three things in order: whether your Wowza source and output are active, whether the Wowza RTMP target matches the URL and stream key for the YouTube event you selected, and whether that event shows an incoming preview in YouTube Live Control Room. A preview means YouTube is receiving the stream; it does not necessarily mean the event is already live to viewers. The checklist below follows Wowza’s published workflow, but without access to your account no single cause can be confirmed.
First, note the product name
Wowza says “Wowza Streaming Cloud is now Wowza Video.” Current Streaming Cloud customers retain functionality in the UI and API, though they will see a newer interface. If your account or an older guide uses the Streaming Cloud name, use the current Wowza Video documentation and the equivalent controls in your interface. Wowza Support: What Happened to Streaming Cloud?
Check the YouTube event and its stream details
- In YouTube Studio, make sure the channel is set up to broadcast live, then create or select the intended live event.
- Open that event’s Stream Settings. Note its primary Stream URL and stream key. If you plan to use a backup URL, note that too.
- Keep the event selected while checking Wowza. A URL or key from a different YouTube event will not verify the intended event’s connection.
Wowza’s current YouTube Live guide identifies YouTube Studio live-broadcast setup as a prerequisite and uses the selected event’s Stream Settings for the destination details. Wowza Video: Stream to YouTube Live
Verify the Wowza Video RTMP target
- In Wowza Video, open the live stream and its Components or output list. Select the intended output rendition, then choose Add external service.
- Choose RTMP and give the target a name you can recognize.
- Enter the YouTube event’s primary Stream URL as the target URL and its stream key as the stream name.
- Follow Wowza’s field-format instructions: omit the
rtmpprefix and trailing slash from URL fields. The backup URL is optional. Leave target username and password blank. - Save the target. Start the Wowza stream/source according to your existing workflow.
Use the current Wowza Video guide for the precise target fields; do not substitute instructions for Wowza Streaming Engine, which uses a different configuration object and interface. Wowza Video: Stream to YouTube Live Wowza Streaming Engine: Stream to YouTube

Follow the signal through its checkpoints
1. Confirm Wowza is producing the intended output
Check the current Wowza Video status or preview for the source and output you selected. Confirm that the intended output exists and is active. Older Wowza Video instructions describe checking Wowza’s video preview first; the exact interface details are legacy, so use the equivalent status or preview in the current UI. Wowza legacy YouTube workflow
2. Look for YouTube’s incoming preview
Open the same event in YouTube Live Control Room. Wowza’s current guide says an incoming stream preview appears automatically when YouTube receives the stream. If no preview appears, the full path has not yet been verified. Recheck the selected event, the saved URL and key, and the active Wowza source/output; the observation alone does not identify which part failed. Wowza Video: Stream to YouTube Live

- Cat 6 performance at a Cat5e price but with higher bandwidth
- High Performance Cat6, 30 AWG, RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cable provides universal connectivity for LAN network components such as PCs,computer servers, printers, routers, switch boxes, network media players,NAS,VoIP phones
- Jadaol cat6 standard cable support Cat8 and Cat7 network and provides performance of up to 250 MHz 10Gbps and is suitable for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet), 1000BASE-T/1000BASE-TX (Gigabit Ethernet) and 10GBASE-T (10-Gigabit Ethernet)
- UTP(Unshielded Twisted Pair) patch cable with RJ45 gold-plated Connectors and are made of 100% bare copper wire, ensure minimal noise and interference
- The unique flat cable shape allows for a cleaner and safer installation. You can easily and seamlessly make the cable run along walls, follow edges & corners or even make it completely invisible by sliding it under a carpet.
3. Start the event for viewers
Receiving a stream and broadcasting it publicly are separate steps. Once the incoming preview is available, use the event controls in YouTube Live Control Room to begin broadcasting to viewers. Wowza’s legacy guide also distinguishes its preview check from clicking Go Live. Wowza legacy YouTube workflow
Common checks when there is still no preview
- Wrong event selected: Compare the Wowza target with the Stream URL and key shown in the currently selected YouTube event’s Stream Settings.
- Target fields do not match Wowza’s format: Check that the URL fields omit the
rtmpprefix and trailing slash, that the stream key is in the stream-name field, and that username and password are blank. - Wrong or inactive Wowza output: Confirm that you attached the external service to the intended output rendition and that its source/output is active.
- Preview appears but viewers cannot watch: Use the YouTube event controls to start the broadcast; an incoming preview is not the same as going live to viewers.
These are checks derived from Wowza’s documented setup fields and preview checkpoints, not a published list of failure codes. The documentation cannot determine the specific cause for a stream that cannot be inspected.
