Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To repeat one fireplace clip in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop in the source properties. That makes OBS replay the file when playback ends; it does not guarantee that the last frame and sound will join smoothly to the beginning. If the restart is still noticeable, adjust and test the video’s loop point.
Set up a looping fireplace clip in OBS
- In the OBS Sources dock, click + and add a Media Source.
- In the source properties, select the local fireplace video.
- Turn on Loop. OBS documents this option as replaying the file after playback completes; it is Off by default.
- Consider Restart playback when source becomes active separately. It controls what happens when the source becomes active, not whether the file repeats at the end.
- Preview the clip through at least one complete repeat in the scene where you plan to use it. Watch the image and listen to the fireplace ambience or music at the restart.
OBS’s Media Sources reference documents the repeat setting, but does not describe a crossfade, seam repair, or guaranteed seamless transition. The checkbox restarts the file; the clip itself determines whether that restart looks or sounds natural.
Fix a visible jump or audible click at the restart
Treat a rough transition as an editing issue in the media file, rather than a setting that OBS can automatically repair. Review the ending and beginning together in a video editor. Choose a segment whose motion and composition transition naturally, and listen closely for a sudden change in the ambience or music. Adjust the clip, export it, then test the finished file by looping it in OBS.
Adobe Premiere’s loop-playback instructions describe setting In and Out points and repeatedly previewing the selected range. That helps assess a candidate loop point; it is not a promise that an exported file will be seamless. With a mostly static fireplace shot, a small visual change may be less noticeable, but the audio boundary can still give the restart away.

Choose the right OBS source for a clip or playlist
| What you want to play | OBS source | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| One local fireplace video | Media Source | Enable Loop to replay the file after it finishes. This repeats playback but does not repair a rough boundary. |
| A playlist of videos | VLC Video | OBS documents Loop Playlist for restarting after the playlist runs out. VLC must be installed; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. |
OBS documents VLC Video as a playlist option, not as a way to make one clip’s ending join seamlessly to its beginning. See the OBS Sources Guide for adding and arranging sources in a scene.
Fit the fireplace video to the scene
Once playback and its repeat are working, position and resize the source to fill the canvas. Use OBS’s fit or crop controls as needed, then check the preview for uncovered edges or areas of the scene showing around the video. Framing affects how the clip fills the scene, not how it repeats.
