The same table gives 10–40 Mbps for AV1 or H.265. Those are encoder targets, not the upload speed every Indian connection can reliably sustain. Test the actual connection you will stream on, then leave room for fluctuations and other network use.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for 4K60
| Setting | Recommended starting point |
|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 3840 × 2160 (2160p), 60 fps |
| Video codec and bitrate | H.264: 35 Mbps. AV1 or H.265: YouTube’s English-language table lists a range of 10–40 Mbps. |
| Bitrate mode | Constant bitrate (CBR) |
| Streaming protocol | RTMPS, which YouTube recommends as the secure extension of RTMP |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Audio | Stereo AAC or MP3, 128 Kbps, 44.1 kHz |
| SDR color | Rec. 709 |
These settings reflect YouTube’s English-language live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions guidance, accessed in 2026. Codec availability depends on the encoder and YouTube ingest support; the AV1/H.265 range does not mean every setup can use either codec at every listed bitrate.
How much upload speed does 4K60 need?
The video bitrate target and your internet plan’s advertised speed are different things. A 35 Mbps H.264 video stream needs sustained upload capacity on the route from your encoder to YouTube; a brief speed-test peak or a plan’s download figure does not establish that the stream will remain stable. YouTube’s guidance says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.”
Run the test from the same connection and, if possible, at the same time and place you expect to stream. Consider other household traffic and normal variation, and avoid setting the encoder right at the connection’s measured limit. There is no single authoritative upload-speed figure that describes Indian internet connections generally: results vary by ISP, plan, city, congestion, wired or wireless connection, and concurrent use.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose settings your connection can sustain
- Confirm the encoder can output 2160p at 60 fps. Select 3840 × 2160 and 60 fps only if the computer or encoder can produce that output consistently.
- Choose a supported codec. H.264 has a specific 35 Mbps recommendation in YouTube’s English-language 2160p60 table. Use AV1 or H.265 only when both your encoder setup and YouTube ingest support the codec.
- Set CBR, RTMPS and a 2-second keyframe interval. Keep the interval at or below 4 seconds.
- Measure upload on the real streaming connection. Test the route and conditions you will actually use, not just a different device or network.
- Reduce output if the connection is not stable with room to spare. Lower resolution or frame rate and consult YouTube’s current table for the corresponding bitrate. Do not assume one fallback bitrate applies to every codec and output.
SDR, HDR and codec considerations
For standard dynamic range (SDR), YouTube recommends Rec. 709. HDR has separate encoder guidance: YouTube recommends H.265 over RTMP(S) where the encoder supports it, and its guidance says AV1 is not supported for HDR. Check current YouTube and encoder support before choosing an HDR workflow; do not apply the SDR recommendation as an HDR setting.
A note on YouTube’s localized bitrate tables
The English-language YouTube Help table surfaced in 2026 lists H.264 at 35 Mbps for 2160p60 and AV1/H.265 at 10–40 Mbps. A localized result from the same YouTube Help page displayed a differently structured table, including 50 Mbps for H.264. These recommendations conflict, so they should not be combined into one range. If you need a locale-specific setting, check the current table shown for your account and region before going live.

Common problems and fixes
- The stream drops frames or becomes unstable: the actual upload route may not sustain the encoder target, or other traffic may be competing for capacity. Test upload under streaming conditions; lower resolution or frame rate and retest if needed.
- The encoder cannot select the recommended codec: availability depends on the encoder and YouTube ingest support. Use a codec both ends support; the H.264 value in the English table is the clearest specific 4K60 starting target.
- HDR output is not behaving as expected: check that the encoder supports the HDR codec workflow and verify YouTube’s current HDR guidance. The published guidance cited here recommends H.265 over RTMP(S) where supported and says AV1 is not supported for HDR.
- Your local YouTube settings page shows a different bitrate: YouTube’s localized table has surfaced a different recommendation from the English-language table. Verify the current page for the locale and account you are using instead of mixing values from the two tables.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a prerecorded video or playlist live on YouTube around the clock, a cloud service avoids relying on a home computer and connection to stay on.
