To schedule a regional-music broadcast, create a YouTube Live stream in YouTube Studio, prepare a rotation of music and visuals in an encoder, then connect the encoder with the stream URL and key shown in Live Control Room. The most important step comes before scheduling: confirm that you have permission for both the sound recordings and the underlying musical and literary works for a continuous YouTube broadcast in your territory. A scheduled event does not grant music rights, and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
1. Clear the music before you build the schedule
A released song can involve more than one rights layer: the sound recording (the master recording) and the underlying musical and literary works, such as the composition and lyrics. Different rights holders or organizations may control those rights. Permission for one layer does not automatically clear the other.
Check the actual use, not just the song title
For every track, confirm who controls each relevant right and obtain written permission that expressly covers YouTube livestreaming, continuous broadcast, the territory, the period of use, monetization and any reporting or attribution conditions. Keep the permission evidence with the track record. Buying a recording, subscribing to a music service, or finding a song in a repertoire search does not by itself establish livestream rights.
IPRS says its licences concern works it controls on behalf of its members, and its licensing information lists internet-streaming categories. Its database contains more than 600,000 titles, is continually updated and may not be exhaustive; a missing result is not proof that a work is free to use. Its guidance describes its licence as “usually a blanket License,” but that does not establish clearance for every recording or every right in a recording.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Do not mistake a public-performance licence for online clearance
PPL India says its repertoire includes regional recordings, but that breadth does not mean its public-performance licence covers a YouTube stream. PPL’s official FAQ states: “PPL does not issue license for usage of sound recordings on a digital platform. You will have to reach out to individual music labels for the same.” Its public-performance and on-ground tariffs should not be treated as the price or permission for digital streaming. Confirm online use directly with the relevant label or rights holder, and separately establish clearance for the underlying works.
These distinctions reflect official IPRS and PPL guidance available on October 3, 2026; neither organization’s general information clears a particular track for your channel. Get the actual permissions before the first broadcast, and keep a rights log with the track name, recording owner or label, composition and lyric rights information, permission document, platform and use covered, territory, term, monetization terms, and attribution requirements.

2. Organize the regional rotation and its visual program
Build blocks that are easy to audit
Group tracks into clearly labeled language or regional blocks—for example, separate Punjabi, Tamil or Bengali rotations—and maintain a track-level rights log rather than assuming that one permission covers an entire playlist. Remove any track whose rights status is unclear until it is resolved. A playlist is an editorial schedule, not a rights clearance.
Prepare the video side of the broadcast
A music-led radio stream still needs a visual program for YouTube Live. Prepare a suitable still or animated visual and a stable audio source in the encoder. YouTube supports encoder-based delivery and recognizes both software and hardware encoders; the available guidance does not make a particular encoder or dedicated hardware mandatory for every music stream. Choose a setup that can run continuously, be monitored, and recover after interruptions. If you use hardware, verify current YouTube ingest support and its continuous-operation capabilities before buying.

3. Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live, then open the Manage tab.
- Create the scheduled event. Choose Schedule Stream and set the audience-facing title, description, thumbnail, visibility and start time. Check the intended date and time carefully before sharing the event.
- Use the event page to announce the broadcast. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can promote and lets viewers opt into reminders. Share that page rather than assuming the encoder connection alone has announced the stream.
- Keep the stream key private. In Live Control Room, note the event’s stream URL and stream key for the encoder. Treat the key like a credential: do not publish it or include it in public instructions.
4. Connect the encoder and preflight the stream
- Configure the encoder for YouTube ingest. Enter the stream URL and key from Live Control Room and select the prepared audio and visual sources. Use encoder settings supported by the current YouTube ingest guidance shown for your stream; do not guess at a bitrate or other value unsupported by your intended format and connection.
- Start early enough to inspect the incoming signal. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. For a continuous channel, turn those event recommendations into a repeatable launch checklist.
- Check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the intended visual and audio are reaching YouTube, that the correct scheduled event is selected, and that the watch page opens as expected.
- Verify local recording and monitoring. If you need a copy of the broadcast, check that an independent local recording is actually growing before going live. Listen and watch for interruptions, silence, failed files or other source problems rather than relying only on the encoder’s “connected” status.
- Run a test and rehearse recovery. Test the rotation, encoder restart and backup plan before launch. YouTube recommends testing and describes checking backup-encoder failover; your plan should also account for an encoder crash, power loss, internet interruption, scheduled-stream end, music-file failure or rights complaint.
5. Plan for continuity and archiving
A scheduled event and an encoder do not guarantee uninterrupted broadcasting. A 24/7 operation needs monitoring and a recovery plan for loss of power or internet, encoder failure, source-file errors and an interrupted YouTube connection. YouTube recommends testing and checking backup encoder failover, but it does not prescribe one architecture for every channel. Decide who or what detects an interruption, how the encoder will be restarted, and how the correct event and stream key will be restored.
Do not use YouTube’s automatic archive as the only record of a day-long broadcast. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Record locally or use another independent archive process if retaining the complete program matters.
