If you joined a YouTube channel membership during a livestream, check the transaction in Google Pay or on your card or bank statement, then review your membership at youtube.com/paid_memberships. A pending entry is an authorization hold, not proof that a payment has completed. A creator cannot treat a livestream announcement as confirmation that the viewer’s payment settled.
Check whether the membership payment is pending or completed
- Sign in to the account you used to join. Use the same Google account for Google Pay and YouTube that you used when you became a member.
- Inspect the transaction. Open Google Pay and find the relevant YouTube transaction, or check the card or bank statement used for the purchase. YouTube says a pending charge is an authorization hold that has not been processed. It is not yet a completed charge. YouTube’s billing troubleshooting guidance also says unsuccessful authorization attempts drop off rather than being billed.
- Look for a receipt email. YouTube says a receipt email is sent when a charge has been processed. Check the inbox for the Google account used to join, including spam or filtered folders.
- Review your membership details. Visit youtube.com/paid_memberships to review or manage your channel memberships and billing information. Prices and billing can vary by country and platform.
- Check for a payment alert or request. Look in Google Pay for an alert asking you to verify account details or fix a payment issue, and follow any instructions shown there.
What a pending charge means—and how long to wait
A pending transaction is an authorization attempt, not a settled payment. More than one pending entry can reflect repeated authorization attempts; it does not necessarily mean that multiple completed membership charges will be billed.
If Google Pay does not show an alert requiring action, YouTube says the pending charge should process within 1–14 working days or disappear if the payment is declined. This is service guidance, not a guarantee for every bank or payment provider. If it remains pending beyond that window, contact the bank or card provider that issued the payment method.
If you are the creator, ask the viewer to check their own account
The official guidance explains how an account holder checks their own transaction. It does not establish that creators can see an individual viewer’s pending payment authorization. Ask the viewer to check Google Pay, their billing statement and their YouTube membership page; do not use a chat announcement as proof that a payment settled.

A livestream “New Member” message is not a payment receipt
YouTube may send a bright green “New Member” message to live chat when someone becomes a channel member during a livestream. That is a membership event announcement, not confirmation that the associated charge has completed. Payment status must be verified through the viewer’s account and payment records.
How recurring membership billing works
YouTube channel memberships are recurring monthly payments. Active members are automatically charged at the start of each monthly billing cycle. To review or manage a membership, use youtube.com/paid_memberships.

Other places to investigate an unfamiliar charge
If you do not recognize a YouTube charge, YouTube’s guidance points account holders to the purchases page and Google Pay Activity to investigate it. Start with the account and payment method that may have been used, then contact your payment provider if the transaction remains unresolved.
