The current Netflix Clips feed is a separate product, and Netflix says it is not available in Kids profiles.
What was Netflix Kids Clips?
Kids Clips was a mobile discovery feature Netflix tested for children’s profiles. It presented short excerpts from Netflix children’s shows and films to help kids find something to watch. Netflix’s adult-oriented Fast Laughs feature was a related short-video concept, but Kids Clips was aimed at catalog discovery rather than social viewing or video creation. TechCrunch reported on the test on November 9, 2021.
The report described a limited selection of about 10–20 clips in a session, with the selection refreshed daily. Clips were horizontal rather than the portrait-oriented format commonly associated with TikTok. The reported limit was a cap on clips shown in a session—not a screen-time limit.
When and where was it tested?
The test began on iOS in November 2021. Contemporary reporting said it covered the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom, other English-speaking territories, Spanish-speaking Latin American markets, and Brazil. Those were reported test markets, not evidence of a permanent or worldwide release. The reporting does not establish that Kids Clips remains available in 2026.

Was it really like TikTok?
Only in its basic discovery mechanics: short videos, autoplay, and a swipe-oriented way to browse. Kids Clips drew on Netflix’s own licensed programming and was meant to lead viewers to full titles. There is no evidence that it offered user uploads, creator tools, public profiles, comments, or an open social-video ecosystem. Calling it “TikTok-like” describes the browsing format, not a TikTok competitor for children.
What controls were reported for Kids Clips?
The 2021 report said the clips reflected the maturity settings on a child’s Netflix profile, and that autoplay could be disabled through parental settings. The bounded set of clips also differed from an unlimited feed. These were profile and playback controls, not a complete child-safety or time-management system; parents still needed to choose suitable maturity settings and manage viewing.

What is Netflix Clips in 2026?
Netflix now uses the name Clips for a separate mobile feature. Netflix describes it as a personalized feed of short excerpts from shows, films, and podcasts, with options to open the full title, add it to My List, or share it. Its April 30, 2026 announcement says the experience may expand to themed collections and other kinds of content. Netflix’s announcement calls the product Clips, not Kids Clips.
Netflix’s Help Center says Clips is for the mobile app on Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad. Where enabled, it appears as a Clips tab in the updated bottom navigation. Availability depends on country and account during rollout, and Netflix says to use the latest app. See the Help Center overview of the updated layout and Clips feed.

Can children use Clips in a Kids profile?
No. Netflix’s current Help Center documentation explicitly says, “Clips isn’t available in Kids profiles.” The same guidance notes that the feed may not yet appear for every account and is limited to some countries. Netflix’s Clips availability page is the relevant check if the tab is missing from an eligible adult profile.
For readers trying to locate the feature, the likely reasons it is absent are that the country or account is not included in the rollout, the app needs updating, the viewer is in a Kids profile, or the viewer is not using the supported mobile app.

How Netflix Kids profiles and parental controls work
A Kids profile has a simplified interface, a kids logo, and programming selected for children. Netflix says it does not provide direct access to account settings and cannot have an email address added for direct sign-in. Parents can set maturity levels and block particular titles. Details are in Netflix’s guide to creating a profile for kids.
Netflix also documents profile locks, viewing-history review, autoplay settings, and other profile-management protections. These controls help adults manage what appears and how profiles are accessed; they do not make every title appropriate for every child. See Netflix’s parental-controls guidance.

Is Netflix Playground the successor to Kids Clips?
There is no verified announcement that Kids Clips was replaced by Netflix Playground. Netflix announced Playground in April 2026 as a dedicated space for children’s games and interactive experiences, designed for children aged eight and under. Netflix says it is included with memberships and has no ads, in-app purchases, or extra fees. It is a games initiative, not evidence of a current short-video feed in Kids profiles. Netflix’s Playground announcement describes that separate product.
