On a compatible Samsung Smart TV, press Home, open Apps, search for STARZ, select the official app, and choose Install. STARZ currently supports select Samsung Smart TVs from 2018 and newer with Smart Hub. Installing the app is free; watching requires a STARZ subscription or an eligible participating-provider account.
Check whether your Samsung TV supports STARZ
STARZ’s current supported-device information lists select 2018-and-newer Samsung Smart TVs with Smart Hub. Model year alone does not guarantee compatibility: availability can also depend on the exact model, television software, country, and Samsung app-store region. Check the current list at STARZ’s supported-devices page.
An older STARZ page mentions select 2014-and-newer Samsung TVs, but that information conflicts with the newer support page. Use the current 2018-and-newer guidance rather than assuming every older model is supported.
What you need before installing
- A supported Samsung Smart TV with Smart Hub.
- Wi-Fi or Ethernet internet access.
- A Samsung Account signed in on the TV. Samsung requires one for network-based Smart Hub services, including streaming apps.
- A STARZ subscription or credentials for a participating cable, satellite, telecommunications, or other provider.
STARZ availability and provider authentication are primarily documented for the United States and certain U.S. territories. App availability and subscription options vary by country.

Install STARZ from Samsung Apps
- Turn on the TV and press Home on the Samsung remote.
- Select Apps.
- Select the Search icon, usually near the upper-right corner.
- Type STARZ with the on-screen keyboard.
- Choose the official STARZ app published by Starz Entertainment, LLC; do not select a similarly named app.
- Select Install.
- When installation finishes, select Open. If offered, choose Add to Home so STARZ is easier to find.
Samsung’s standard path is Home → Apps → Search → STARZ → Install. Wording such as Add to Home, Add to Start, or button placement can differ by model, Smart Hub version, remote, and region. Samsung’s app guidance is available at Samsung Support.
Sign in and activate STARZ
Direct STARZ or platform subscription
- Open STARZ and select Log In.
- Select Get Code when the activation-code screen appears.
- On a phone, tablet, or computer—not the TV’s web browser—open www.starz.com/activate (STARZ also references activate.starz.com).
- Enter the code shown on the TV.
- Choose STARZ Streaming when asked for the subscription type, then enter the email address and password associated with your STARZ account.
- Return to the TV and select a profile.
STARZ says activation does not work through a television web browser. Its device-login instructions are at STARZ’s login guide.

Cable, satellite, telecommunications, or other provider subscription
- Open STARZ and select Log In.
- Choose Log in With TV Provider or TV Providers.
- Select your participating provider.
- Enter the username and password for that provider or billing account, not necessarily a separate STARZ login.
- Complete any additional activation shown on the TV.
Not every bundle supports app authentication. If you already receive STARZ through a provider, use provider login before creating or purchasing a second direct subscription. STARZ’s activation instructions are at its TV activation help page.
Is the STARZ app free?
The app can be downloaded without buying the app. Streaming requires a direct STARZ subscription, a subscription purchased through a supported platform, or qualifying access through a participating provider. STARZ’s download guidance explains this distinction at STARZ Support.

As a price snapshot checked August 16, 2026, STARZ’s direct signup page displayed a regular monthly price of $11.99 plus applicable taxes and limited-time promotions, including $5.99 per month for three months. Prices, offers, billing terms, and availability can change; verify the checkout total at starz.com/us/en/buy. Installing the Samsung app does not itself start a subscription.
If STARZ does not appear in Samsung Apps
- Confirm the TV is connected to the internet by opening another online app.
- Sign in to the Samsung Account on the TV.
- Check the TV’s country or region settings and whether STARZ is offered there.
- Install any available TV software update.
- Restart the TV, then search for STARZ again.
- Check the exact model against STARZ’s supported-device list.
If Install is unavailable, Samsung’s store generally considers the app incompatible with that device or unavailable in its region. Samsung permits installation of apps offered through the official App store; do not use unofficial APKs, Tizen packages, developer-mode installs, or modified download sites.

If STARZ installs but freezes, crashes, or shows a blank screen
- Exit STARZ and reopen it.
- Cold-boot the TV by turning it off, unplugging it briefly, then reconnecting power and turning it on.
- Update the TV through Settings → Support → Software Update → Update Now. Menu wording can vary.
- Delete and reinstall STARZ.
- Reset Smart Hub only as a last resort.
- If other apps work normally but STARZ does not, contact STARZ support.

Reinstall STARZ
- Open Apps.
- Select the Settings icon in the upper-right corner.
- Highlight STARZ and choose Delete.
- Search for STARZ again and select Install.
Deleting a third-party app signs you out, so have your STARZ or provider credentials ready before removing it.

Reset Smart Hub only after other fixes
Resetting Smart Hub signs you out of the Samsung Account and installed apps. Save your login details first. Samsung lists these paths:
- 2018-and-earlier TVs: Settings → Support → Self Diagnosis → Reset Smart Hub.
- 2019-and-later TVs: Settings → Support → Device Care → Self Diagnosis → Reset Smart Hub.
Samsung lists 0000 as the default PIN unless it has been changed.
When the built-in Samsung app is not an option
If the TV is unsupported, STARZ is unavailable in its region, or the native app remains unreliable after troubleshooting, use a supported external platform such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, or Xbox. STARZ lists these platforms alongside Samsung TVs at its supported-devices page.
An external device cannot fix an incorrect account, an inactive provider package, or a failed activation choice. Casting or phone mirroring may also be limited by device compatibility, digital-rights protection, network conditions, resolution, and playback controls, so the native app or a supported streaming device is the more reliable route.

Common activation and account errors
- Code fails: Request a new code, use the correct activation page on a phone or computer, and confirm that you selected STARZ Streaming or TV Providers correctly.
- Asked to subscribe again: You may have chosen direct STARZ login while your access comes from a provider, used another email address, or selected the wrong platform subscription.
- Provider login fails: Confirm that your package includes STARZ and that your provider participates in STARZ app authentication.
