Everand is Scribd Inc.’s subscription app for audiobooks, ebooks, podcasts and Everand Originals. It is the successor to the audiobook-and-ebook service many readers remember as Scribd, while the current Scribd product is a separate document platform. Everand advertises more than 1.5 million audiobooks and ebooks, but that headline does not mean every title is unlimited: most of the broad catalog uses monthly unlocks, alongside a smaller selection of more than 20,000 titles available without an unlock.
Everand at a glance
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Who operates it? | Scribd Inc. |
| What is included? | Audiobooks, ebooks, podcasts, Everand Originals, recommendations and curated collections |
| Catalog claim | More than 1.5 million audiobooks and ebooks, according to Everand |
| Unlimited section | More than 20,000 audiobooks, ebooks and podcasts, according to Everand |
| Apps and access | Web, iOS and Android, with in-app offline downloads |
| Ownership | Subscription access only; unlocked or downloaded titles are not permanent purchases |
Everand and Scribd can use the same login, but they require separate subscriptions. Scribd Inc. also operates SlideShare and Fable. A charge labeled “Scribd Inc.” can therefore relate to Everand rather than the document service. See Everand’s getting-started guide and Scribd Inc.’s company overview.
What content does Everand offer?
Audiobooks and ebooks
The service combines spoken and written books in one app. A title can be available through the broad unlock catalog, the smaller unlimited section, or not available in your market. Seeing a cover, previewing a sample or finding a title in search is not proof that the complete book is included in your plan.
Podcasts and Everand Originals
Podcasts and Everand Originals add audio and exclusive programming beyond traditionally published books. Availability and catalog status can change, so check the title page before subscribing or spending an unlock.
Fable integration
Everand activity can connect with Fable’s social-reading features, including progress, saved books, lists and streaks. Scribd Inc. says Fable Plus is included with Everand plans. Fable is a companion community, not evidence that every Fable feature or title is part of Everand’s catalog. Details are in the Scribd Inc. announcement.
Unlocks versus unlimited access
Everand’s most important distinction is between unlock titles and unlimited titles.
How an unlock works
- Find an eligible audiobook or ebook.
- Use one monthly unlock to open it.
- Read or listen to the full title while your subscription remains active.
- Use further unlocks if your plan provides them, or select titles marked unlimited after your allowance is spent.
- Receive new unlocks on your billing date, not necessarily on the first day of the calendar month.
An unlock is not a purchase, ownership right or permanent download. Everand explains the mechanics in its unlock help article.
What “unlimited” means
All current plans include a curated selection advertised as more than 20,000 audiobooks, ebooks and podcasts that do not consume an unlock. Look for the “unlimited” label on each title. The label applies to that selected collection, not to the entire 1.5-million-plus catalog, and it does not guarantee that a particular bestseller or new release is included.

The following are US web prices observed on August 18, 2026. Taxes, promotions, country and billing channel can change the amount or availability.
| Plan | Price shown | Monthly unlocks | Likely fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $11.99/month | 1 | One premium title per month, with unlimited titles filling the gaps |
| Plus | $16.99/month | 3 | Regular readers or listeners who expect to use several unlocks |
| Deluxe | $28.99/month | 5 | High-volume users who consistently need five eligible titles monthly |
If every allowance is used, the arithmetic cost per unlock is about $11.99 on Standard, $5.66 on Plus and $5.80 on Deluxe. Those figures describe monthly access capacity, not the price of books you keep forever. Everand’s current plan details are at the plan support page.

Choosing a plan
- Standard: Choose it when one unlock normally covers your monthly premium reading and the unlimited section suits the rest.
- Plus: Choose it when you will use all three unlocks in most billing cycles.
- Deluxe: Choose it only when five unlocks are regularly useful; otherwise the higher fee can go unused.
Before subscribing, search for the books you actually want and check whether each is unlimited, unlock-based or unavailable.
App features and supported devices
Everand supports web browsers, iOS and Android. The current support documentation lists iOS 17 or later and Android 7.1.1 or later; store requirements can vary by country and device.

Offline reading and listening
- Install the Everand app and sign in to the active account.
- Open the audiobook or ebook.
- Tap the download control.
- Open the downloaded title from the app when offline.
Downloads are protected in the app, not delivered as portable files. A title can still require an unlock even after downloading it. If the subscription expires or is canceled and allowed to lapse, previously downloaded books stop working until access is restored. Confirm downloads before a flight or other period without connectivity. See Everand’s offline-access instructions.

Everand currently shows a 30-day trial on its website and a seven-day trial through the US Apple App Store. Offers include the service and one free title or unlock subject to the promotion. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled.
Record the renewal date and cancel through the same channel used to subscribe. An Apple subscription is managed in Apple’s subscription settings, not necessarily on the Everand website. The channel-specific terms are described in Everand’s trial help page.

Is Everand worth paying for?
Strong fit
- You use both ebooks and audiobooks.
- You finish at least one or several books most months.
- You are comfortable renting access instead of owning files.
- Your preferred titles are verified as unlimited or covered by your plan’s unlock allowance.
- You value offline use and Fable’s reading-community features.
Weak fit
- You want a permanent audiobook or ebook collection.
- You need more premium titles than your monthly allowance permits.
- You mainly want one specific bestseller whose status is uncertain.
- You expect the full advertised catalog to be unlimited.
- You already borrow most books free through a participating library.
- You need DRM-free files playable outside Everand.
Everand compared with alternatives
| Service | Best for | Access model | Key difference from Everand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Audible | Audiobook-first users who want a lasting collection | Standard is $8.99/month for one selection; Premium is $14.95/month for one credit plus the Plus Catalog; two-credit Premium is $22.95/month, with annual options | Premium credits place redeemed audiobooks in the member’s library, unlike Everand unlocks |
| Libby | Readers with a participating public-library card | Library loans, generally without a separate subscription fee | Potentially free, but holds, loan periods and catalogs depend on the local library |
| Libro.fm | Ownership-minded audiobook buyers supporting independent bookstores | Purchased audiobooks and membership options | Not an ebook replacement or unlimited rental catalog; current pricing should be checked at checkout |
| Kindle Unlimited | Kindle-focused ebook readers | Ebook-first subscription | Not a like-for-like replacement for Everand’s combined ebook-and-audiobook offering; current US price should be checked directly |
Choose among these services by asking four questions: do you need ebooks, audiobooks or both; do you want to rent or keep titles; how many premium titles will you use monthly; and are your target books actually unlimited or unlock-based?
Bottom line
Everand is best understood as a mixed ebook-and-audiobook rental subscription: a large catalog unlocked a few titles at a time, plus a much smaller unlimited collection. It is compelling for frequent, mixed-format readers who accept subscription access. Audible is usually better for building an audiobook collection, Libby for library-card borrowing, and Libro.fm for buying audiobooks while supporting independent bookstores.
