Amazon Music has no single reset command that works everywhere. Use the least-destructive fix first: restart the app and device, refresh the music library, clear temporary cache where available, then sign out and back in. Clear app data, reinstall, or deauthorize a device only when those steps fail or the problem is specifically tied to local data or authorization.
What “reset Amazon Music” can mean
“Reset” may refer to several different actions:
- Refreshing a library whose playlists, artwork, recommendations, or recent additions are missing.
- Removing temporary cache files.
- Signing out and reconnecting the Amazon account.
- Clearing local app data or reinstalling the application.
- Refreshing downloads on a particular device.
- Deauthorizing a device with an account or device-limit problem.
Resetting the app is not the same as canceling Amazon Music Unlimited. Subscription management is handled in Amazon Music Settings; subscriptions billed through Apple must be managed through Apple. See Amazon’s subscription-management guidance and Music FAQs.
The safest reset sequence
- Close Amazon Music completely and restart the phone, tablet, computer, Fire TV, or Echo setup.
- Confirm the device is online by testing another app or website.
- Open Amazon Music and choose Refresh My Music or Reload My Music if that option appears.
- Clear the app cache on platforms that provide a cache control.
- Sign out, then sign back in with the Amazon account that owns the library or subscription.
- Clear app data or reinstall only if the earlier steps fail.
- Test a known song, album, and playlist. If the same failure occurs on every device, investigate the account, plan, network, or Amazon service rather than repeatedly resetting one app.
Reset Amazon Music on Android
Use Amazon Music’s cache control first
- Open Amazon Music.
- Tap the Settings icon in the upper-right corner.
- Choose Settings.
- Scroll to Storage.
- Tap Clear Cache.
This is Amazon’s recommended Android and Fire tablet route for temporary-file and intermittent-performance problems. The labels can vary by app release, device language, and account region. The current Amazon instructions are at Clear Cache in the Amazon Music App.

- Compatible with Omni, Ember, Insignia, Toshiba, Pioneer Smart TVs that support voice commands
- This remote is compatible with streaming devices and smart TVs, and the pairing methods differ. Please refer to the instructions for pairing
- Voice Function: Use voice commands to find your favorite content faster than ever before
- Package Contents: 1 Replacement Voice Remote, 1 User Manual (Batteries not included: requires 2 AAA)
Use Android system settings if the in-app option fails
- Open Android Settings.
- Go to Apps, Applications, or App management.
- Select Amazon Music.
- Tap Storage or Storage & cache.
- Choose Clear cache, then reopen Amazon Music.
Use Clear storage, Clear data, or the equivalent only as a later escalation. It can remove locally stored app information and downloaded offline music, and normally requires you to sign in again. If the library is still stale after clearing cache, sign out and back in to force a synchronization. Check downloads afterward.
Reset Amazon Music on iPhone or iPad
Refresh the library
- Open Amazon Music.
- Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Refresh My Music.
Amazon’s iOS guidance does not provide the same full in-app cache-clearing control available on Android. Use the official refresh instructions.
Escalate if the refresh does not work
- Force-close Amazon Music.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Reopen the app and sign out and in if the controls are available.
- Delete and reinstall Amazon Music.
- Sign in again and allow time for the library to reload.
Deleting the app can remove locally downloaded offline music and local app data. Cloud playlists, purchases, and account libraries are generally associated with the Amazon account, but local preferences and downloads may not survive. An Amazon staff forum response describes additional debug-cache steps, but treat those as an escalation rather than the normal consumer procedure: Amazon Music search troubleshooting.

Reset Amazon Music on Windows or Mac
Sign out and resynchronize

- Sign out.
- Close and relaunch the desktop app if necessary.
- Sign in again.
Amazon says this refreshes desktop data and enables a library resynchronization.

Quit Amazon Music before changing these folders. Removing their contents resets local desktop state and may require reauthentication or redownloading offline music.

Reset Amazon Music on Fire TV
- Open Settings.
- Select Applications.
- Select Manage Installed Applications.
- Select Amazon Music.
- Choose Clear Cache.
- If it still fails, return to the same screen and choose Clear Data.
- Restart Fire TV and sign in again if required.
For a deeper failure, uninstall and reinstall Amazon Music. Restart from Fire TV’s restart control, or unplug the power adapter for about one minute before reconnecting it. Amazon documents these steps in Clear App Data and Cache on Fire TV and App Crashes or Won’t Load on Your Fire TV.
Recommended Free Tools
Clear Cache is less disruptive than Clear Data. Reinstalling does not necessarily remove every existing data or cache component unless the app is first uninstalled or its data is cleared, as Amazon’s Fire TV developer documentation explains: Installing and running your app. Fire TV may also automatically clear an unused app’s cache after more than 30 days when storage is constrained.

- Control your compatible soundbar and speakers with dedicated power volume and mute buttons.
- Get to your favorite content quickly and easily with preset app buttons. Subscriptions may be required.
Fix Amazon Music on Echo and Alexa
An Echo does not expose the same Amazon Music cache controls as a phone. Treat the symptom as an Alexa, account, network, or playback problem:
- Confirm the Echo is connected to the intended Amazon account, household, and profile.
- Check that Alexa responds to other commands.
- Power-cycle the Echo and test playback again.
- Try Amazon Music on another device. If it fails everywhere, check the plan, account, network, or service status.
- Use Alexa and Amazon account device settings when the issue is device association or music playing under the wrong profile.
Do not factory-reset an Echo as a normal Amazon Music cache fix.

Choose the right fix for the symptom
| Symptom | Best first action | Main risk |
|---|---|---|
| App is slightly slow | Restart, then clear cache | Minimal |
| Recent additions or playlists are missing | Refresh or reload the library | Synchronization may take time |
| Stale artwork or search results | Clear cache, then sign out and in | Check downloads afterward |
| Android repeatedly freezes | Clear cache, then clear data | Sign-in and offline downloads may be lost |
| iPhone or iPad is stale | Refresh My Music, then reinstall if needed | Offline music may need downloading again |
| Desktop library is wrong | Sign out/in or Reload My Music | Local data may be rebuilt |
| Fire TV will not load | Clear cache and restart | Account issues remain unaffected |
| Wrong account or device limit | Check the account; deauthorize only if necessary | Device capacity can take 30 days to return |
| Subscription unavailable | Check plan and billing account | Resetting the app cannot restore entitlement |
Should you deauthorize a device?
Deauthorization is for an authorization limit, a device stuck on the wrong account, or a persistent authorization error—not routine cache clearing.
- Open Your Amazon Music Settings in a browser.
- Go to Manage Your Devices.
- Remove or deauthorize the affected device.
Amazon states that it can take 30 days for the released device space to become available. See Deauthorize a Device before using this option.
Will resetting delete playlists or downloads?
- Refreshing or reloading the library rebuilds the local view; it is not an account-deletion action.
- Clearing cache removes temporary files.
- Clearing data, uninstalling, or reinstalling may remove local app state and require offline tracks to be downloaded again.
- Playlists, saved music, and purchases are generally tied to the Amazon account, but not every local preference or download is guaranteed to survive.
- Do not delete playlists, albums, or purchased music to solve an app display problem.
Amazon distinguishes temporary streaming cache from offline content in its music caching documentation. Downloaded subscription tracks are not ordinary transferable audio files.
Problems a reset cannot fix
- An expired trial, canceled plan, failed payment, or a plan that does not include the feature you expect.
- An Apple-billed subscription being managed outside Apple.
- Signing into a different Amazon account from the one containing your library.
- Regional catalog or availability restrictions.
- A network failure or Amazon-wide service incident affecting every device.
The U.S. Amazon Music Unlimited page displayed $11.99 per month for customers without Prime and $10.99 per month for Prime customers after the promotional period when reviewed on August 18, 2026. Promotions, taxes, eligibility, region, and future pricing can change: Amazon Music Unlimited.
