There is an important catch: Spotify has not documented this as a universally available feature. A Spotify moderator said in June 2023 that it was being tested on iOS in certain markets, and reports since then suggest that many Android, desktop, and web-player users still cannot see it. The option may also be absent for some iPhone users. If “Eat this playlist” appears in your menu, here is how to play it.
How to find Spotify’s hidden game
- Update Spotify. Install the latest version available for your device from the relevant app store. An update may be necessary, but there is no specific app version publicly confirmed to unlock the game.
- Open the Spotify mobile app. Use the iPhone or iPad app first if you are checking for the feature. The game has not been reliably documented as a desktop or web-player feature.
- Open a playlist. You can use a playlist you created, saved, or otherwise have access to. A playlist containing several tracks is a practical choice because the game uses artwork associated with its music.
- Open the playlist options. Tap the three-dot button near the playlist title. Spotify’s official playlist guidance confirms that playlist actions are accessed through these menus; the icon can appear as horizontal dots on iOS and vertical dots on Android. See Spotify’s playlist instructions.
- Scroll through the menu. Look for “Eat this playlist.” It may be lower down rather than among the first actions.
- Tap the option to launch the game. If the menu item is not there, the troubleshooting steps below are more useful than repeatedly reinstalling the app: the feature may not be enabled for your account, device, or market.
How “Eat this playlist” works
The minigame is Spotify’s take on classic Snake. A snake moves around the screen and collects small album-art images connected with tracks in the selected playlist. Each collected item makes the snake longer, increasing the chance that it will run into itself.

Depending on the device and version of the feature, you guide the snake with touch gestures or on-screen controls. A round ends when the snake hits the boundary or collides with its own body. The playlist’s music can continue playing while you play, so the game is attached to the listening experience rather than being a separate game app.
The playlist matters because its tracks supply the visual collectibles. This is why choosing a playlist with several songs is more sensible than testing an empty or nearly empty playlist, although the available evidence does not establish a minimum track count.
Why you may not see the game
“Eat this playlist” appears to have started as a limited Spotify experiment rather than a permanent feature released to every listener. In a June 2023 Spotify Community discussion, a Spotify moderator described it as an iOS test available in certain markets. Users in that discussion reported different results even when they were using iPhones.
More recent third-party descriptions continue to characterize the feature as mainly—or exclusively—available on iPhone or iOS, but Spotify’s current public support pages do not document a broad rollout. That means the safest wording is “if the option appears”, not “every Spotify user can play it.”

| Question | Best-supported answer |
|---|---|
| Is it an official separate Spotify game? | No. It is best described as a hidden playlist minigame or Easter egg inside Spotify. |
| Does it work on iPhone? | Some iPhone users have been able to access it, but it has not been guaranteed for every iPhone or market. |
| Does it work on Android? | Android users have commonly reported that the option is missing. A universal Android rollout has not been established. |
| Does it work on desktop or the web player? | It has mainly been reported in the mobile app, not the desktop or web-player experience. Spotify lists those platforms as supported listening environments, but that does not mean the hidden game is available in each one. Check Spotify’s supported-device information. |
| Is Spotify Premium required? | The available Spotify Community evidence does not support that claim. Do not treat Premium as a prerequisite. |
| Is there a public leaderboard? | No public leaderboard or permanent scoring system is established by the available evidence. |
What to do if “Eat this playlist” is missing
- Update the app. Check the App Store or Google Play and install any available Spotify update.
- Use the mobile app. If you are looking in Spotify’s desktop application or at open.spotify.com, switch to the mobile app. Spotify supports all of these listening environments, but the minigame has been associated primarily with mobile.
- Try another playlist. Open a playlist with multiple tracks and check its three-dot menu again. This can rule out a playlist-specific issue, although it cannot force the experiment to appear.
- Check the device and region limitation. The strongest documented availability was an iOS test in certain markets. An iPhone user in one market may see the item while another iPhone user does not.
- Do not upgrade to Premium just to unlock it. The available moderator response specifically does not establish the feature as Premium-exclusive.
- Stop if it still does not appear. Spotify may have limited, changed, or withdrawn the experiment for your account or region. There is no reliable official workaround that forces “Eat this playlist” into the menu.
Is this a permanent Spotify feature?
There is no strong public evidence that Spotify has made “Eat this playlist” a permanent, globally supported feature. Spotify’s official help material explains ordinary playlist actions and supported devices, but does not currently provide a dedicated support page promising access to this game.
That distinction matters. The game can be real and still disappear from a user’s menu because Spotify is testing it, changing the experiment, or enabling it only for selected accounts and markets. If you find it, it is best treated as a hidden bonus rather than a feature Spotify guarantees to maintain.
The short version
Open a Spotify playlist in the mobile app, tap the three-dot menu, scroll down, and choose “Eat this playlist” if it is listed. You will guide a Snake-like character around album-art collectibles from that playlist while the music continues. If the option is absent, update Spotify and try another playlist—but understand that availability may depend on iOS, region, account, and Spotify’s current testing decisions. It is not proven to require Premium.

Do you need Spotify Premium to play “Eat this playlist”?
Not necessarily. The available Spotify Community evidence does not support the claim that Premium is required. Availability appears to depend more on the device, market, account, and Spotify’s testing of the feature.
Is Spotify’s hidden game available on Android?
The feature has been reported mainly on iOS, and many Android users do not see it. Spotify has not publicly documented a universal Android rollout.
What if “Eat this playlist” is not in my Spotify menu?
Update Spotify, use the mobile app, and try a playlist with several tracks. If the option remains missing, Spotify may not have enabled the experiment for your account or market, and there is no reliable official workaround to force it to appear.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Spotify’s hidden game is called “Eat this playlist.” Find it in a playlist’s three-dot menu in the mobile app, but expect limited availability—especially outside supported iOS markets. Missing the option does not necessarily mean you are doing anything wrong.
