What do the Save and green Saved icons mean?
The Save icon adds a song or episode to your Spotify library. After saving, the control changes to a Saved state—often shown as a green check mark or another highlighted version of the same control—meaning that the item is already in Liked Songs or Your Episodes.

Spotify’s Now Playing documentation treats Saved as a library state, not an offline state. You can save a track and later add it to another playlist, but saving does not by itself download the track to your device.
What do the crossed-out, highlighted, and normal Shuffle icons mean?
The Shuffle control changes the order in which Spotify selects tracks. When shuffle is off, tracks play in their arranged order; standard shuffle plays tracks randomly; other available modes can reduce repeats or add personalized recommendations.

A crossed-out or inactive shuffle symbol generally indicates that shuffle is off, while a highlighted symbol indicates that a shuffle mode is active. What does the Play Queue icon do?
The Play Queue icon opens the list of tracks Spotify is scheduled to play next. Spotify describes the queue as a place to See and control what plays next.
From the queue, you can add tracks, change their order, remove items, and clear the list.
A queue is temporary playback planning; a playlist is a saved collection that you can return to later. On mobile and tablet, Spotify uses taps, swipes, and dragging for queue actions. On desktop and web player, queue actions use clicks, right-click menus, and dragging. The exact gestures are listed in Spotify’s Play Queue support instructions.
What is the speaker-shaped or device icon on Spotify?
The speaker-shaped icon is usually the Spotify Connect or device control. Spotify labels the function Play to another device.
Selecting it lets you choose or control playback on a compatible phone, computer, smart speaker, television, game console, or other supported audio device instead of playing through the device you are currently holding.

What does the E or EXPLICIT label mean next to a Spotify song?
The E or EXPLICIT label identifies a release that Spotify has tagged as explicit using information supplied by the rights-holder. The label describes the supplied classification; it does not claim that every listener will judge the song’s content in exactly the same way.
When explicit content is disabled in Spotify settings, tracks with an explicit tag are grayed out, cannot be played, and are automatically skipped. Spotify warns that some explicit releases do not have a clean version. The official explicit-content settings guide explains the filtering behavior.
Why can’t I see lyrics on Spotify?
Lyrics may be missing because the song, device, market, language, or rights-holder agreement does not support them. Lyrics are available to both Free and Premium users where supported, so a missing Lyrics button does not automatically mean that a Premium subscription or an app repair is required.
On mobile, open Now Playing and scroll to the Lyrics area, then tap the panel to expand it when the feature is available. On desktop and web player, Lyrics appears at the bottom of the player when supported. Spotify’s lyrics support page documents these platform differences.

What is the moving video behind Spotify album art?
The short looping visual behind or alongside album art is called Canvas. Canvas is a brief track-associated animation, not a full music video and not a change from audio playback to video playback.
Spotify says Canvas loops briefly and uses little data. Canvas can be switched off in Spotify’s mobile or desktop settings. If you see a moving image rather than static cover art, the Canvas setting and the individual track’s Canvas availability determine what appears. The download arrow means that supported content can be stored for offline listening. Downloading is different from saving: Save places the song or episode in your library, while Download makes supported content available when the device has no internet connection.
Spotify’s Premium benefits documentation says Premium users can download songs, albums, and playlists for offline listening. According to Spotify’s current Premium benefits documentation, Premium downloads can cover up to 10,000 tracks across up to five devices. Why does my Spotify screen show different icons?
