Use Prime Video in a web browser: sign in, select the correct profile, open Settings, go to Watch History (or Activity → View Watch History), and choose Remove this from watched videos or Hide This beside the title. Repeat the action for additional movies or episodes.
To clear a movie or episode from Amazon Prime Video’s watch history, use Prime Video in a web browser: sign in, select the correct profile, open Settings, choose Watch History (or Activity → View Watch History), and select the removal option beside the title. Depending on the interface, the control may be labelled Remove this from watched videos or Hide This.
Remove one title from Prime Video watch history
- Open Prime Video in a browser and sign in to the Amazon account that contains the viewing activity.
- Check the active Prime Video profile. Viewing activity and recommendation preferences can differ between profiles on the same Amazon account.
- Open the profile or account menu and select Settings.
- Open Watch History. On some Prime Video layouts, you may need to select Activity first and then View Watch History.
- Find the movie, episode, or other video you want to remove.
- Select the available removal control, such as Remove this from watched videos or Hide This.
The selected item should disappear from the Watch History list. If you want to remove more than one title, repeat the process for each entry. Amazon’s documented workflow is primarily item by item, so do not expect a universal Clear all button. If your signed-in interface provides a bulk-removal option, its availability may depend on the current Prime Video layout or region.
What clearing Watch History actually changes
Removing an item takes it out of the Prime Video Watch History view. It does not delete the movie or episode from Prime Video, remove it from Amazon’s catalog, or prevent you from finding it again through browsing or search.
#1 Best Overall
- Easy voice search & control: Quickly search across thousands of top channels, play entertainment, control your streaming, and more with your voice
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, control your Roku device, switch inputs on your Roku TV, and more—all in a tap
- Pre-set channel shortcuts: Pre-set channel shortcuts let you launch popular streaming channels with the push of a button, all without having to scroll
- Simple setup: Simply turn on your Roku device and pull the battery tab on the back of the remote and it should pair automatically
- Works with your Roku device: Roku Voice Remote works with all Roku TV models, Roku audio products, and most Roku players*
It is also safer to treat this as a change to the selected Watch History entry—not as a guarantee that every record associated with viewing has been erased. The available documentation does not establish that removing a title from Watch History universally clears:
- Continue Watching
- Prime Video Search History
- Amazon shopping Browse History
- Every recommendation or personalization signal immediately
Watch History is different from Amazon shopping history. To remove a Prime Video viewing entry, use Prime Video’s own settings rather than the browsing-history controls on the main Amazon shopping site.
Does removing a title reset Prime Video recommendations?
Viewing activity contributes to Prime Video’s personalized discovery and recommendations, so changing Watch History may influence future personalization. However, removing one title should not be described as an instant or complete reset of every recommendation row. Recommendation updates may not be immediate, and other profile activity can also affect what Prime Video displays.
Prime Video’s recommendation controls are separate from Watch History. If a title is not suitable for your recommendations, use the profile’s Thumbs down control where available. A thumbs-down rating reduces future recommendations for that title, but it does not remove the title from Prime Video search.

If you cannot find the title
Confirm the active profile
Prime Video supports multiple profiles under one Amazon account. A title watched under one profile may not appear when you check another. Open the profile selector and switch to the profile that was active when the video was watched, then return to Settings and Watch History.
Use the browser workflow first
The website route is the most dependable general method because Prime Video’s mobile, smart-TV, and streaming-device interfaces do not necessarily expose identical Watch History controls. Sign in through a browser and follow the Settings route rather than assuming that a control on a television or phone manages the complete account history.
Check that you are signed in to the right account
If the Watch History page sends you to a login screen, sign in before reopening it. Make sure you are using the Amazon account associated with the Prime Video activity, not a different household or work account.
Allow cookies if the page will not load correctly
The authenticated Watch History page may redirect to sign-in or show a cookie-related message when the browser session is not recognized. Enable the cookies required for the Amazon and Prime Video session, sign in again, and reopen the Watch History page. Private-browsing settings, cookie blockers, and aggressive content-blocking extensions can also interfere with an authenticated account page.

Look for changed labels
Amazon can change Prime Video navigation and wording by region, device, or account interface. Look for the equivalent of Watch History, Activity, View Watch History, Hide This, or Remove this from watched videos. A different label does not necessarily mean the feature has been removed.
Can you clear Prime Video watch history in the app or on a TV?
Device-specific controls are not identical across the Prime Video app, smart TVs, Fire TV devices, game consoles, and other connected devices. Amazon staff guidance describes an app action in which you tap and hold a recently played video and choose Remove From List. That wording refers to an app list and should not be treated as a universal replacement for the full account Watch History workflow.
If the app or TV does not show a clear Watch History option, use Prime Video in a desktop or mobile browser instead. Select the correct profile first, because changing the profile on a TV or app does not necessarily change which profile’s activity you are viewing.
Common mistakes
- Using Amazon shopping Browse History: this is a different account area from Prime Video Watch History.
- Looking for a guaranteed “clear everything” control: the documented process removes selected entries, so repeat it for each title unless your interface explicitly offers bulk removal.
- Expecting the title to be deleted: the video remains available in Prime Video and can still be found through search or browsing.
- Checking the wrong profile: activity and recommendation preferences can be profile-specific.
- Assuming Continue Watching is the same as Watch History: available documentation does not establish that clearing one always clears the other.
- Assuming all recommendations will change immediately: Watch History is one influence among several, and recommendation updates may take time.
Quick checklist
- Open Prime Video in a browser.
- Sign in to the correct Amazon account.
- Select the profile that watched the title.
- Go to Settings → Watch History, or Settings → Activity → View Watch History.
- Select Remove this from watched videos, Hide This, or the equivalent control.
- Repeat for every title you want to remove.
- Use separate controls if your goal is to influence recommendations or manage Continue Watching.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does clearing Prime Video Watch History delete the movie or episode?
No. Removing a title from Prime Video Watch History removes the entry from the history list, but the movie or episode remains available in Prime Video and can still appear in search or browsing.

- Designer finish and ergonomic design – The universal remote’s silver finish adds an extra touch of elegance to any decor while its ergonomic design fits comfortably in hand
Does removing a title from Watch History also clear Continue Watching?
Not necessarily. Amazon’s documented removal control applies to the selected Watch History entry. The available evidence does not establish that it universally removes the title from Continue Watching, Search History, or Amazon shopping Browse History.
Can I clear my entire Prime Video Watch History at once?
Yes. Prime Video’s standard browser workflow is to remove titles individually. Repeat the removal action for each title unless your signed-in interface explicitly provides a bulk option.
Why can’t I find a video in my Prime Video Watch History?
Check the active Prime Video profile first. Profiles can have separate viewing activity and recommendation preferences, so a title watched under another profile may not appear in the current list.
The Bottom Line
Use Prime Video’s browser settings—not Amazon shopping history—to remove individual titles: select the correct profile, open Settings → Watch History, and choose Remove this from watched videos or Hide This. This removes the selected entry from the Watch History view, but it is not a guaranteed deletion of every viewing-related record, Continue Watching item, search entry, or recommendation signal.
