These Are the Richest ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pros of All Time—According to Published Estimates

Kym Johnson-Herjavec has the highest reported figure in the latest published ranking, at $100 million—but that number comes with a major qualification. Parade says the estimate is affected by her marriage to Robert Herjavec and his separately reported $600 million fortune. If the question is instead which pro has the highest estimate presented as individual wealth, the answer is Julianne Hough at a reported $12 million.

The figures below come from Parade’s ranking, which says it used Celebrity Net Worth consistently. They are published estimates, not audited financial statements. The source’s headline says 17 pros, but its accessible article text names 15; this article does not invent the two missing entries.

The published ranking at a glance

The list below reproduces the 15 named entries visible in Parade’s published ranking. Parade says it used Celebrity Net Worth consistently for the figures. These are estimates, not audited financial disclosures, and the ranking’s headline says 17 pros even though the accessible article text contains 15 names.

Rank Professional dancer Reported net worth Important context
1 Kym Johnson-Herjavec $100 million The figure is heavily affected by wealth associated with her marriage to Robert Herjavec.
2 Julianne Hough $12 million Highest figure in this list presented as an individual estimate.
3 Maksim Chmerkovskiy $8 million DWTS, touring and Dance With Me business interests.
4 Derek Hough $8 million DWTS, judging, choreography, acting, touring, stage work and books.
5 Val Chmerkovskiy $7 million DWTS, touring and Dance With Me business interests.
6 Karina Smirnoff $6 million Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.
7 Allison Holker $6 million Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.
8 Witney Carson $5 million Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.
9 Cheryl Burke $4 million A long DWTS run and two early Mirrorball wins.
10 Mark Ballas $4 million Three reported wins, other entertainment work and a return to the pro lineup.
11 Tony Dovolani $3 million Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.
12 Lacey Schwimmer $1.5 million Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.
13 Peta Murgatroyd $400,000 Two Mirrorball wins and the Peta Jane Beauty brand.
14 Keo Motsepe $300,000 Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.
15 Emma Slater $300,000 Published estimate; the source does not provide an audited breakdown.

All amounts are reported estimates in U.S. dollars as presented by the cited ranking. Equal figures do not establish a tie in actual wealth; they only indicate that the published estimates are the same.

Who is really the richest Dancing With the Stars professional?

There are two defensible answers, depending on what “richest” means.

  • Highest reported figure: Kym Johnson-Herjavec, at $100 million.
  • Highest reported individual estimate in the list: Julianne Hough, at $12 million.

Kym’s position needs the biggest qualification. Parade notes that the estimate is influenced by her marriage to entrepreneur Robert Herjavec, whose fortune has been separately reported at $600 million. That does not prove that Kym personally owns $100 million, controls her husband’s assets or independently earned the amount attributed to her in the database. It means the top spot is better understood as a household-associated or marriage-influenced estimate than as a clean measure of wealth built solely through professional dancing.

Julianne Hough is therefore the clearest candidate for the top spot if the comparison is limited to figures presented as the dancer’s own net worth. Even that conclusion is not an audited finding: it is an interpretation of how the published estimates are described.

Why these numbers are estimates, not financial facts

Celebrity Net Worth is a secondary estimate database, not a system of personal financial disclosure. Its figures do not establish how much money a dancer has in cash, investments or property. They also do not show:

  • debts, mortgages or other liabilities;
  • tax obligations;
  • ownership percentages in companies;
  • the division of marital or community property;
  • current contracts, annual income or tour profits; or
  • the effect of private events such as business sales, real-estate transactions, divorce settlements or new contracts.

For that reason, “reported net worth” and “published estimate” are more accurate descriptions than saying a dancer definitively “is worth” a particular amount. The figures can also lag behind private financial changes. Parade says it relied on one third-party source for consistency and acknowledges that other professionals might deserve inclusion.

The ranking is useful as a snapshot of public estimates and career visibility. It is not a verified leaderboard of bank balances, earnings or independently accumulated wealth.

The five highest-ranked individual pros

1. Kym Johnson-Herjavec — reported $100 million

Kym Johnson-Herjavec occupies the top position in the published list, but she is also the reason the ranking cannot be read as a straightforward professional-dancer wealth contest. The estimate is connected to her marriage to Robert Herjavec and his separately reported fortune. Her placement should consequently be labeled “highest reported figure,” not proof that she is the wealthiest dancer by independently earned personal assets.

2. Julianne Hough — reported $12 million

Julianne Hough has one of the most diversified careers represented in the ranking. According to Celebrity Net Worth’s profile, she won DWTS Seasons 4 and 5, released a No. 1 country album, acted in films including Footloose, Safe Haven and Rock of Ages, and later worked as a judge and co-host. Her income and public profile have extended beyond the show through music, film, television, tours and fitness-related ventures.

That breadth explains why Hough’s reported $12 million is substantially higher than many estimates for pros whose public careers have been more concentrated on the dance floor. It still remains a published estimate rather than an independently verified total.

3. Maksim Chmerkovskiy — reported $8 million

Maksim Chmerkovskiy joined the U.S. version of DWTS in Season 2 and won Season 18 with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. His reported wealth is associated with television, live tours and business activity outside the program, including Dance With Me and family-oriented live-tour projects.

The official Dance With Me studio description lists private lessons, group classes, social practice parties, events and multiple dance styles. That kind of recurring studio operation is materially different from relying only on television-season compensation, although the available sources do not disclose Maks’s ownership percentage, revenue or profit.

4. Derek Hough — reported $8 million

Derek Hough is the franchise’s six-time Mirrorball champion and became a DWTS judge in 2020. His official ABC biography identifies him as an Emmy-winning choreographer and New York Times bestselling author, and documents work in judging, choreography, tours and stage productions. Those activities help explain how a professional dancer can build income streams beyond appearances as a competitor.

For readers interested in the career story behind the estimate, Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion is Derek Hough’s documented memoir. The book is relevant as a window into his professional path; it is not evidence that the $8 million estimate is accurate.

5. Val Chmerkovskiy — reported $7 million

Val Chmerkovskiy officially joined the DWTS professional cast in Season 13 and has three reported Mirrorball wins. Like his brother, he has also been connected with Dance With Me. The company identifies Maks as founder and Val as a partner, trainer and coach, making the studio business an important example of how a dancer can diversify into instruction, events and live experiences.

Val’s memoir, I’ll Never Change My Name, is another documented physical book connected to a top-ranked pro. It offers a natural companion for readers interested in his background and rise on DWTS, but it should not be treated as a financial record.

The rest of the published list

Karina Smirnoff and Allison Holker — reported $6 million each

Karina Smirnoff and Allison Holker share the sixth-place estimate in the published ranking. The source provides the dollar figures but does not supply an audited breakdown showing how much came from DWTS, other television appearances, tours, teaching, choreography, endorsements or private investments. Their position should therefore be read as a reported estimate, not a claim that their careers or assets are identical.

Witney Carson — reported $5 million

Witney Carson is listed at a reported $5 million. As with the other mid-ranking entries, the available ranking does not reveal the underlying asset calculation or separate professional dancing income from other possible sources of wealth.

Cheryl Burke — reported $4 million

Cheryl Burke’s DWTS run began in Season 2 and continued through Season 31. She won her first two seasons with Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith. Her long tenure gives her substantial franchise visibility, but time on the show alone does not establish a particular net worth: contracts, taxes, expenses, outside work and private assets would all affect the final number.

Mark Ballas — reported $4 million

Mark Ballas began on DWTS in Season 5 and won with Kristi Yamaguchi, Shawn Johnson and Charli D’Amelio. After announcing a retirement from the professional lineup, he returned for Season 34. The published estimate reflects a broad public career history, but the source does not provide a verified accounting of his earnings or ownership interests.

Tony Dovolani — reported $3 million

Tony Dovolani is listed at a reported $3 million. The ranking does not break that figure into television pay, teaching, tours, choreography or other income, so the number should remain attributed to the published estimate.

  • Slip-Resistant Rubber Sole: Textured rubber outsole enhances traction for reliable grip on dance floors, theater stages, studio surfaces, and everyday wear.

Lacey Schwimmer — reported $1.5 million

Lacey Schwimmer is listed at $1.5 million, the only figure in the ranking between $3 million and $400,000. That placement is not a statement about her dancing ability or career importance; it is simply where the cited estimate falls.

Peta Murgatroyd — reported $400,000

Peta Murgatroyd has two Mirrorball wins and founded Peta Jane Beauty, a self-tanning brand. The brand is a useful example of a professional dancer creating a consumer-business connection outside television. Readers interested in that side of her career can look into Peta Jane Beauty self-tanning products; availability and product offerings can change, so this is a business-venture reference rather than a recommendation about results.

Keo Motsepe and Emma Slater — reported $300,000 each

Keo Motsepe and Emma Slater share the lowest listed estimate, at $300,000 each. A low published figure should not be confused with a measure of talent, popularity or total career earnings. It may reflect incomplete public information as much as it reflects assets or income.

Why the richest pros are not necessarily the longest-serving pros

DWTS can create visibility, but television exposure is only one part of the wealth picture. The higher individual estimates in this list are attached to pros who built several kinds of careers:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Julianne Hough: music, film, judging, hosting, touring and fitness-related ventures.
  • Derek Hough: judging, choreography, acting, stage work, tours, writing and bestselling books.
  • Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy: television, live productions, instruction and Dance With Me’s studio and event business.
  • Peta Murgatroyd: television visibility combined with a named beauty business.
  • Mark Ballas and Cheryl Burke: long-running DWTS careers with multiple wins and broader entertainment work.

A professional who spends more seasons on the show does not automatically earn more than someone who turns television recognition into touring, books, studios, judging, acting, products or other ventures. The ranking illustrates that difference, even though its underlying figures cannot prove the exact contribution of any one activity.

What this ranking does—and does not—tell us

It does tell us: which 15 named pros appear in the cited published list, how the estimates compare with one another, and which careers visibly extend beyond DWTS.

It does not tell us: who has the most liquid money, who earned the most from the show, who owns the most valuable business, or who is independently wealthier after accounting for spouses, debt and taxes.

There is also a source-count problem. Parade’s headline refers to 17 pros, but the accessible article body ends after 15 named entries. This article does not fill the gap by guessing which two names may be missing. Until the source publishes a matching list, the responsible description is a 15-entry published ranking with a headline/body discrepancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the richest Dancing With the Stars pro?

Kym Johnson-Herjavec has the highest reported figure in the published ranking, at $100 million. However, Parade says the estimate is affected by her marriage to Robert Herjavec and his separately reported fortune. That makes her placement a measure of reported household-associated wealth, not proof of independently earned personal assets.

Who is the richest Dancing With the Stars pro based on individual wealth?

Julianne Hough, with a reported estimate of $12 million, is the highest-ranked dancer in this list whose figure is presented as her own net worth. Her music, film, judging, hosting, touring and fitness-related work helped diversify her career beyond DWTS.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are the Dancing With the Stars net-worth figures official?

No. The figures are secondary estimates attributed to Celebrity Net Worth through Parade’s ranking. They do not verify cash, investments, property, debt, taxes, ownership percentages, marital-property treatment or current income.

Why does this list include 15 pros instead of 17?

The accessible Parade article names 15 professionals even though its headline says 17. The missing two names cannot be identified from the available text, so the responsible version lists only the 15 entries that can be verified.

The Bottom Line

Kym Johnson-Herjavec has the highest reported figure at $100 million, but that estimate is strongly influenced by her marriage to Robert Herjavec. Julianne Hough, at a reported $12 million, is the highest-ranked pro whose figure is presented as an individual estimate. Because the numbers come from a secondary estimate database rather than financial disclosures, this is best read as a published snapshot—not a definitive ranking of personal wealth.
