The best choice from this April 4–6, 2025 lineup depends on whether you want a major finale, a complete binge, a paid movie rental or a family adventure. Here are the seven picks, with the audience and viewing format for each clearly separated.
Note on timing: This is a historical weekend-watch guide for Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, 2025. The seven titles below were the picks available during that weekend, and streaming rights may have changed since then. Check the relevant service before subscribing, renting or buying.
There was no single type of viewer served by this lineup. The White Lotus offered a major season finale; Dying for Sex, Pulse, The Bondsman and Love on the Spectrum U.S. were full-season streaming options; and Black Bag and Paddington in Peru were paid digital movie choices. Here is what each title was best suited for.
1. The White Lotus season 3 finale — HBO and Max
Best for: viewers already following season 3 who want a high-profile finale built around mystery, social satire and an uneasy ensemble drama.

The third season of Mike White’s anthology series concluded on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and Max. Set at a White Lotus resort in Thailand, the season continued the show’s habit of using luxury holidays, class tension and interpersonal cruelty to examine its characters. This was not a new-series recommendation or a good starting point for newcomers: the appeal depended on having invested in the season’s characters and unresolved questions.
The finale was the weekend’s most event-driven option. Viewers looking for a complete binge could choose one of the other shows below, but fans of The White Lotus had a specific appointment television moment. Warner Bros. Discovery later reported that the episode drew 6.2 million U.S. cross-platform viewers on its first Sunday night.
Watch The White Lotus on Max, subject to current availability and regional restrictions.
2. Dying for Sex — FX on Hulu
Best for: viewers who want an emotionally intense limited series about intimacy, friendship and reclaiming personal freedom.

The series follows Molly, played by Michelle Williams, after she receives a terminal cancer diagnosis and leaves a stagnant marriage. With the support of her friend Nikki, played by Jenny Slate, Molly begins exploring sex and intimacy in ways she had previously denied herself.
Despite its title and dramedy classification, this is not lightweight comedy. Terminal illness, grief, sexuality, explicit material and difficult questions about marriage and mortality are central to the story. Its full-season release made it one of the weekend’s easiest shows to start and finish, but the subject matter makes it a poor choice for viewers looking for uncomplicated comfort viewing.
Watch Dying for Sex on Hulu if the series’ mature themes are appropriate for your household.

3. Pulse — Netflix
Best for: viewers who enjoy serialized hospital dramas with emergency-room pressure, workplace conflict and relationship secrets.
Netflix’s Pulse follows third-year resident Dr. Danny Simms after she is unexpectedly promoted when Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips is suspended. The upheaval takes place at Miami’s busiest trauma center while a hurricane approaches, giving the series two simultaneous sources of pressure: the medical emergencies inside the hospital and the storm threatening the city outside it.
All 10 episodes were streaming on Netflix during the April 4–6 weekend. The show was created by Zoe Robyn, with Carlton Cuse serving as co-showrunner, and its story also includes a secret-romance thread alongside the hospital hierarchy and emergency cases.
Pulse is a television drama, not a documentary or a substitute for medical information. Its medical scenarios are presented for serialized entertainment, so viewers should not treat the show’s procedures or decisions as guidance about real emergency medicine.

Best for: viewers who want a short supernatural binge with action, dark humor, demons and a country-music flavor.
Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who has been murdered and resurrected by the Devil. His assignment is to recapture escaped demons, turning a familiar bounty-hunter setup into a supernatural action dramedy. The series mixes monster-hunting mechanics with dark comedy and music, rather than functioning as a conventional procedural about tracking human fugitives.

All eight episodes were available on Prime Video during the historical weekend. The compact episode count makes The Bondsman a practical choice for viewers who want a complete genre binge without committing to a long-running series. Its premise is deliberately heightened, so it will appeal more to fans of supernatural mashups than to viewers seeking realistic crime drama.
Stream The Bondsman on Prime Video, where availability and subscription terms should be confirmed before watching.
5. Love on the Spectrum U.S. season 3 — Netflix
Best for: viewers looking for a relationship-focused unscripted series centered on dating, communication and the agency of its participants.
Netflix’s third U.S. season premiered on April 2, 2025 and contained seven episodes. It follows returning and new participants on the autism spectrum as they navigate dating and relationships. Returning participants included Abbey, David, Connor, Tanner, Adan, Dani and James, while Madison and Pari were among the newcomers identified in Netflix’s materials.
The strongest reason to watch is the combination of familiar returning participants and new dating journeys. The series should be approached as a set of individual stories rather than as a broad explanation of autism. Participants have distinct personalities, preferences and goals; autism is not a plot device or a single experience shared in an interchangeable way by everyone on the show.
Watch Love on the Spectrum U.S. season 3 on Netflix, if it is currently offered in your region.

Steven Soderbergh directed this compact spy thriller, which stars Michael Fassbender as British intelligence officer George Woodhouse and Cate Blanchett as his wife, Kathryn. George is investigating whether Kathryn is connected to a dangerous cyber weapon, placing a marriage under the same scrutiny normally reserved for an intelligence target.
The appeal is the tension between domestic intimacy and professional secrecy. Fassbender and Blanchett lead a tightly focused cast, while the screenplay comes from David Koepp. This is a good choice for viewers who want polished espionage storytelling, marital distrust and verbal pressure more than explosions or an extended franchise mythology.
During the April 4–6, 2025 weekend, the film was reported as available through Amazon and Apple’s digital storefronts. It was a paid rental or purchase, not a title established by the research as included with a standard streaming subscription.

Best for: families and viewers who want a warm, accessible adventure instead of a thriller, medical drama or adult relationship story.
In the third Paddington film, Paddington and the Brown family travel to Peru after Aunt Lucy disappears from her retirement home. Their journey moves through the Amazon and Peruvian mountain landscapes and includes performances from Antonio Banderas and Olivia Colman.
Paddington in Peru was the clearest family-viewing pick in the lineup. It offers a gentler alternative to the weekend’s darker material while retaining the series’ travel-adventure premise. During the historical weekend, Tom’s Guide reported digital purchase availability through Amazon and Apple. As with Black Bag, that means viewers should distinguish a paid digital transaction from a movie included in a subscription catalog.
Rent or buy Paddington in Peru digitally where the title is offered.
For viewers who prefer ownership, physical editions were scheduled for April 29, 2025. An official Paddington store listed a DVD edition, making Paddington in Peru DVD a separate option from streaming or digital rental. Check the seller’s listing for the current format, region and stock status.

What “available” meant for this weekend
The platform information in this guide belongs specifically to April 4–6, 2025. Catalogs, subscription tiers, regional rights and digital storefront prices can change. The historical sources support HBO/Max for The White Lotus’s finale, Hulu for Dying for Sex, Netflix for Pulse and Love on the Spectrum U.S., Prime Video for The Bondsman, and paid digital storefront access for Black Bag and Paddington in Peru during that window. They do not establish that all seven titles remain on those services in August 2026.
The list also should not be read as a measured ranking. Its order was an editorial selection: it led with the culturally prominent White Lotus finale, moved through several full-season shows, and ended with two transactional movie choices. “Top” here means recommended for that particular weekend, not an independently verified numerical score.
