Thomas Ravenel’s life after Southern Charm has been substantially quieter than his years on Bravo. His clearest recent public move was a brief 2025 attempt to enter South Carolina politics—announced on February 7 and withdrawn on February 11 so he could focus on raising his children.
Thomas Ravenel’s post-Southern Charm life has been much quieter
Thomas Ravenel has largely stayed outside the regular Southern Charm spotlight. The clearest recent public development was a brief political detour: he announced on February 7, 2025, that he intended to run for governor of South Carolina in 2026, then withdrew four days later, saying he needed to focus on raising his children.
Since his regular run on Bravo ended, Ravenel’s public identity has rested mainly on three parts of his past and present: his role as one of the original faces of Southern Charm, his background in South Carolina politics and commercial real estate, and his family life. The available reporting does not establish that he currently holds office, remains an active gubernatorial candidate, runs a named development project, or has returned to Southern Charm as a regular cast member.
His 2025 gubernatorial bid lasted four days
Ravenel’s most newsworthy recent move came in February 2025. On February 7, 2025, he announced that he planned to seek the South Carolina governorship in the 2026 election. On February 11, 2025, he announced that he was stepping away from the prospective campaign.

The South Carolina Daily Gazette reported that Ravenel described himself as a single father of three young children and said the timing was not right for a gubernatorial campaign. That means his political episode should be described as a briefly announced and withdrawn candidacy—not as an ongoing campaign.
The reporting reviewed for this article found no reliable evidence that he later resumed the campaign. That is a conclusion limited to the available public reporting; it does not prove that no private, local, or unindexed political activity exists.
Family responsibilities are now part of the public story
Ravenel is publicly identified as the father of Kensington Calhoun Ravenel and St. Julien Rembert Ravenel. His decision to end the 2025 political effort placed parenting responsibilities at the center of his explanation for doing so. A contemporary report referred to him as a single father of three young children, but the authoritative sources reviewed do not provide enough verified information to construct a complete current family profile.
That distinction matters. Older television episodes, social-media posts, or unsourced online claims should not be used to infer his current custody arrangements, residence, romantic status, or day-to-day parenting schedule. The defensible conclusion is that family responsibilities were the reason he publicly gave for abandoning the gubernatorial plan, while much of his private life remains undocumented.

What does Thomas Ravenel do now?
Ravenel’s established professional background includes commercial real estate through Ravenel Development Corporation and public service as South Carolina’s state treasurer. A biographical reference also records that he sold Brookland Plantation in 2021.
Those facts describe his career history, not necessarily his current job. The available sources do not verify a current operating position, an active named development project, a new employer, or a specific business venture. It is therefore more accurate to say that Ravenel has a background in commercial real estate than to claim that he currently runs a particular real-estate company or development.
His political history also predates the 2025 announcement. He is a former state treasurer, not a current officeholder based on the information reviewed here. His short-lived gubernatorial announcement brought him back into political headlines, but it did not result in a confirmed active campaign.
Why did he leave Southern Charm?
Ravenel was one of the defining early personalities on Southern Charm. His regular role ended after the show’s fifth season amid sexual-assault allegations and broader controversy.

Those events require careful wording. Reports may describe allegations, accusations, lawsuits, settlements, or other legal developments, but allegations should not be presented as adjudicated facts without a directly cited court finding. A responsible summary is that his departure followed serious public controversy and reported allegations—not that every disputed claim against him was proven.
After leaving the show, his public profile became more intermittent. Bravo’s official biography continues to identify him as a Charleston-born former cast member and former South Carolina state treasurer, while noting interests such as spending time with his children, polo, boating, and travel. A preserved biography, however, is not evidence that he is currently filming the program or pursuing a particular business.
Is Thomas Ravenel coming back to Southern Charm?
There is no verified evidence in the reviewed material that Ravenel has returned as a regular cast member or has a confirmed comeback planned. Bravo’s biographical page documents his historical connection to the series, but it is not a current casting announcement.
Fans may still associate him strongly with the show’s early seasons, and his name can prompt speculation about a return. That speculation should remain speculation unless Bravo or the production company makes an official announcement. Ravenel’s 2025 political announcement and withdrawal do not indicate that a television comeback is underway.

How to revisit Ravenel’s original Southern Charm seasons
For viewers interested in comparing Ravenel’s highly visible Bravo years with his quieter recent public profile, the most relevant place to start is the original run of Southern Charm. Prime Video’s catalog has listed seasons and paid digital episode access, although availability, pricing, and viewing rights can vary by country and can change over time.
You can watch Southern Charm from the beginning through a currently authorized service in your location, then treat the episodes as historical reality television rather than a reliable guide to Ravenel’s present circumstances. The show captures the public persona and conflicts that made him a central figure; it does not establish his current employment, family arrangements, or political plans.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The clearest picture of Ravenel’s life after Bravo
Thomas Ravenel has not disappeared entirely from public life, but he is far less consistently documented than he was during his years on Southern Charm. His February 2025 attempt to enter the South Carolina governor’s race was the clearest recent public development, and its rapid withdrawal emphasized family responsibilities rather than a sustained political return.
The most accurate current description is that Ravenel is a former reality-TV personality and former South Carolina state treasurer with an established real-estate background who now maintains a comparatively private, intermittently public life. More specific claims about a current company, political campaign, custody situation, residence, finances, or return to television would require newer and more authoritative evidence.
