The property was sold, three of Kody Brown’s marriages ended, and his relationships with many of his adult children remain strained. Those developments make Season 20 a decisive ending for the family’s old structure—but, as of the available evidence through August 12, 2026, TLC has not confirmed a permanent cancellation or a renewal beyond Season 20.
No—not on the evidence currently available. The sale of Coyote Pass may end the original shared-family vision at the center of Sister Wives, but it does not prove that TLC will cancel the series or that Season 20 was its final season. The more accurate conclusion is that the show has reached a major turning point: the land is gone, three of Kody Brown’s marriages have ended, and his relationships with many of his adult children remain strained. That leaves the series with a very different story to tell.
TLC’s official Season 20 material described Coyote Pass as sold and called the sale the family’s “final chapter.” However, the same season continued to focus on Kody’s apology tour, his former wives, his adult children, and the consequences of the family’s collapse. As of the available evidence through August 12, 2026, there is no verified TLC announcement confirming either a permanent cancellation or a renewal beyond Season 20.
The real significance of the Coyote Pass sale
Coyote Pass was never just another property dispute. When the Browns moved to Flagstaff in 2018, the land was presented as the physical future of their plural family: a shared community where Kody, his wives, and their children could remain connected while living in separate homes.

That plan became increasingly symbolic as the family separated. Christine left the marriage and moved on. Janelle and Meri also ended their spiritual marriages to Kody. Robyn is now his only remaining wife. As the relationships changed, Coyote Pass stopped looking like the foundation of a united household and started functioning as a reminder of what the family had failed to build.
What the adults were fighting about
The Season 20 and reunion material presented several overlapping arguments:
- Whether the property should finally be developed or sold.
- Who had authority to make decisions about the land.
- How ownership and any sale proceeds should be handled.
- Whether the adults had been honest and transparent with one another.
- Whether some family members were attempting to exclude others from the decision.
Kody described what he called a possible “backdoor deal” involving Janelle and alleged that she had discussed forcing a sale without Meri or Robyn’s agreement. Janelle denied Kody’s account of that alleged arrangement. Meri said she believed Kody and Janelle might be trying to leave her out.
Janelle also alleged during the reunion that a confidentiality agreement associated with Robyn delayed or disrupted an earlier offer. That is Janelle’s allegation, not an independently established legal finding. The available episode summaries and entertainment coverage do not establish every ownership detail, the full legal history of the property, or the final distribution of proceeds.

What is confirmed about the sale
TLC’s Season 20 episode guide stated that Coyote Pass had sold. A TLC-published video description characterized the transaction as Kody, Robyn, Meri, and Janelle deciding to sell the Flagstaff property for $1.5 million.
That is enough to say the family’s shared-land project reached a practical resolution. It is not enough to claim that every dispute over the property was emotionally resolved or that the exact proceeds were divided in a particular way. The sale ends the question of whether the Browns will develop Coyote Pass together; it does not erase the resentment surrounding how the decision was made.
Why the sale could make the original show premise unsustainable
The original Sister Wives format was built around the Browns’ plural-marriage household and the tensions involved in trying to create one family life across several homes. Coyote Pass gave that idea a concrete destination. The family could argue about schedules, jealousy, faith, parenting, and finances while still pointing toward a shared future.

- Designed for TVs up to 80 lbs (36.3 KG) and display sized 26" - 55" (66 CM - 140 CM).
- Designed for VESA sized from 3.9'' x 3.9'' through 15.7'' x 15.7''.
- Comfortable View with tilt range from +10° to -5°.
That future has now disappeared on two levels:
- The plural marriage structure has collapsed. Meri, Janelle, and Christine are no longer married to Kody, leaving Robyn as his only wife.
- The shared physical destination has disappeared. The Coyote Pass property was sold rather than developed as a Brown family community.
This does not make the remaining cast irrelevant. It does mean that a future season could no longer honestly present the Browns as one functioning plural family working toward a common home. The series would instead be about the aftermath: separate lives, damaged relationships, disputed memories, and the possibility—or impossibility—of limited reconciliation.

Season 20 was structured in part around what Kody described as an apology tour. According to reunion coverage, he visited Janelle, Christine, and Meri before discussing those encounters during the four-part One-on-One reunion.
The results were mixed. The former wives did not respond as a single bloc:
| Family member | Reported position after Kody’s outreach | What it means for the show |
|---|---|---|
| Janelle | She said the North Carolina apology felt sincere and that they remained on good terms. | There is room for civility and a workable relationship, even without a restored marriage. |
| Meri | She was open to kindness and comfortable conversations, but did not expect total agreement or immediate restored trust. | Her stance suggests cautious closure rather than a return to the old family structure. |
| Christine | She said she was moving on and did not believe additional apologies could repair the past. | Her position represents emotional disengagement, not an unresolved negotiation with Kody. |
This complicates the claim that Kody is simply alienating all of his ex-wives. There is substantial criticism and estrangement, but the latest reunion coverage also shows limited closure, friendliness, or improved communication. The defensible assessment is that Kody’s approach has produced different results with different people—not that every former wife has reached the same conclusion.
Why Kody’s relationship with his children is the bigger unresolved problem
Kody acknowledged during Season 19 that he was divided from most of his adult children, and the children’s estrangement remained a major subject in Season 20. That conflict may be more consequential to the show’s future than the property sale because it reaches beyond the former marriages and into the next generation of the family.
Season 20 coverage included Robyn discussing Kody’s rejection by his children and suggesting that the former wives may have contributed to the divide. Christine rejected being blamed for how Kody’s children feel. Janelle expressed that she wished Kody had a better relationship with their children.
Those are participant accounts and televised family discussions, not an independently verified explanation for every estrangement. Adult children also have their own perspectives and boundaries, and a reality-TV episode cannot establish the complete history of a private family relationship. Still, the available material supports a clear conclusion: Kody’s relationships with many of his children are a central reputational and emotional problem for him, and the issue remains unresolved even after the marriages ended.

That unresolved conflict could keep the series relevant. It could also make future filming more difficult if family members do not want to participate or if the show continues to revisit painful disputes without producing meaningful change.
Is Kody’s “victim act” ending the show?
“Victim act” is evaluative language, not a clinical diagnosis or an official TLC finding. The phrase comes from commentary about Kody’s perceived tendency to describe himself as betrayed, rejected, or unfairly treated while disputing responsibility for the family’s breakdown.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →His reunion statements provide evidence of a contested accountability narrative. Kody said he wanted the hurt to end and that he was ready for people to move forward. At the same time, he described betrayal as an “illusion.” Viewers can reasonably see those statements as defensive or blame-contesting, particularly when they are placed beside his former wives’ and children’s accounts. But the evidence does not justify claiming certainty about his private motives or diagnosing his personality.
The more precise criticism is this: Kody’s public framing often appears to ask the rest of the family to move past the conflict before they agree that he has fully acknowledged what happened. That can make reconciliation harder. An apology that one person experiences as sincere may sound incomplete to someone who believes the underlying account of events is still being denied.
In that sense, the so-called victim posture could contribute to the show’s exhaustion. If every conversation circles back to competing claims about who betrayed whom, viewers may see repetition rather than progress. On the other hand, unresolved accountability disputes are also exactly the kind of material that reality television often continues to document.
Five signs the show’s original story may be over
1. The family’s shared destination is gone
Coyote Pass gave the family a long-running objective. The sale removes the most tangible symbol of a future built together.

2. The plural-marriage cast structure has changed permanently
With Christine, Janelle, and Meri no longer married to Kody, the program cannot return to its earlier balance of sister-wife relationships. Robyn is Kody’s only remaining wife.

3. Kody’s reconciliation efforts may be reaching different kinds of closure
Janelle’s cautious goodwill, Meri’s openness to civility, and Christine’s decision to move on do not create a single dramatic reunion arc. They point toward separate outcomes.
4. The conflict with the adult children has no quick television resolution
A property sale can be documented. Rebuilding trust with estranged children is slower, more private, and dependent on people who may not want to participate.
5. The show risks becoming a cycle of retrospective blame
If the central question is repeatedly who caused the family’s collapse, rather than what the adults are doing now, the series may feel trapped in the past. Kody’s disputed accountability narrative intensifies that risk.
Five reasons those signs do not prove cancellation
The same evidence also points to possible future storylines. TLC’s Season 20 episode guide itself continued to find material in the Coyote Pass sale, Kody’s apology tour, his adult children, and his relationships with Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn.
- The aftermath of the sale is still available to explore. The emotional consequences, practical fallout, and competing memories of the property dispute did not end when the land changed hands.
- Kody and Robyn’s household has a new identity. The show could examine how their relationship functions without the original plural-family structure surrounding it.
- The former wives have separate lives. Christine, Janelle, and Meri can remain part of the story without being presented as active sister wives.
- The adult-child estrangements remain unresolved. Whether relationships improve, remain distant, or become more sharply defined would provide continuing narrative stakes.
- Reality shows often evolve after their original premise changes. A series can survive by documenting consequences rather than preserving the circumstances that made it famous.
Those are possible editorial directions, not an announced TLC plan. They show why the sale is better understood as a format transition than as proof of a series finale.

According to TLC’s official listings, Season 20 premiered in September 2025 and ran through One-on-One Part 4 on February 1, 2026. The season’s official material treated the Coyote Pass sale as a major endpoint and described it as the family’s “final chapter.”
That wording should not be confused with a formal cancellation announcement. “Final chapter” can describe the end of the Browns’ original family era, the end of the property storyline, or the conclusion of a particular season’s narrative. It does not necessarily mean TLC has declared that Sister Wives will never return.
As of August 12, 2026, the available researched sources establish Season 20’s conclusion but do not establish a verified TLC renewal or cancellation after that season. Because television schedules and platform listings change, the official TLC show page should be checked again immediately before publication or viewing.

Where to watch the Coyote Pass and reunion episodes
Availability varies by country, season, and platform. JustWatch has listed Sister Wives through Discovery+, Discovery+ Amazon Channel, HBO Max/Amazon Channel, and purchase or rental options, including digital episodes or seasons. Viewers should verify the specific Season 20 and One-on-One listings before paying, since streaming rights can change.
For background on the family before the Flagstaff years, readers can also consult the Browns’ memoir, Becoming Sister Wives: The Story of an Unconventional Marriage. Published by Gallery Books in 2013 and written by Kody and his four wives, it offers the family’s original public account of plural marriage and their shared vision. It does not cover the later Coyote Pass sale, the subsequent breakups, or the Season 20 disputes.
The most likely future story if the show returns
If TLC brings Sister Wives back, the most credible continuation would not be another attempt to recreate the old family arrangement. That arrangement is over. A future season would more likely follow the consequences of its disappearance:
- Kody and Robyn’s life as a two-person household.
- Whether Kody can build healthier relationships with his adult children without asking them to accept his version of the past first.
- How Meri, Janelle, and Christine define their relationships with one another and with Kody after the marriages.
- Whether the Coyote Pass sale produces closure or another round of arguments over fairness and trust.
- How much of their lives the adult children are willing to share publicly.
That could be a compelling post-plural-family documentary series. It would also be a substantially different program from the one that began with four wives and a plan for a shared Flagstaff homestead.
Bottom line
Coyote Pass may have ended the Browns’ original shared-family vision, but it has not been proven to end Sister Wives forever. The property was sold, the plural marriage structure collapsed, and Kody’s disputes with his ex-wives and children remain serious. Yet Season 20 demonstrated that the aftermath itself can generate a storyline. Until TLC confirms a cancellation or renewal, the show’s future is unresolved—not finished.
Frequently Asked Questions
Was Coyote Pass sold?
TLC’s Season 20 material says Coyote Pass was sold, and a TLC-published video description identified the sale price as $1.5 million. However, the available reporting does not establish every legal ownership or proceeds-distribution detail.
Has TLC canceled Sister Wives after Season 20?
Not according to the available researched evidence through August 12, 2026. Season 20 ended with One-on-One Part 4 on February 1, 2026, but no verified TLC announcement confirms either a permanent cancellation or a renewal beyond that season.
Recommended Free Tools
Did Kody’s apology tour repair his relationships with his ex-wives?
No. Janelle described her apology as sincere and said they remained on good terms; Meri was open to kindness and civil conversations but did not expect complete agreement; Christine said she was moving on and did not believe more apologies would repair the past.
Why are Kody’s relationships with his children important to the show’s future?
Kody acknowledged that most of his relationships with his adult children were strained. Season 20 continued to present that estrangement as a major issue, but the available coverage does not prove that it alone will determine whether TLC renews the show.
What does the Coyote Pass sale mean for Sister Wives?
It ends the original plan to develop a shared Brown family community in Flagstaff. It does not automatically end the television series, which could continue by covering the sale’s consequences, Kody and Robyn’s household, the former wives’ separate lives, and the family’s estrangements.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Coyote Pass battle appears to mark the end of the Browns’ original shared-family era, not a confirmed end to Sister Wives. TLC has documented Season 20’s conclusion and the property’s sale, but no verified evidence establishes that the series will never return.
