The correct first-time watch order is: Season 1 → Mugen Train (movie or TV arc) → Entertainment District → Swordsmith Village → Hashira Training → Infinity Castle I.
You do not need to watch both versions of Mugen Train, and the theatrical recap films To the Swordsmith Village and To the Hashira Training are optional if you have already watched the corresponding television arcs. Hashira Training is the essential final prerequisite because it leads directly into the events that begin Infinity Castle.

The complete Demon Slayer watch order before Infinity Castle
- Season 1: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc
- Mugen Train — choose the feature film or the seven-episode TV arc
- Entertainment District Arc
- Swordsmith Village Arc
- Hashira Training Arc
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I
This order follows the story’s intended progression from Tanjiro Kamado’s first missions through the Demon Slayer Corps’ preparation for its final confrontation with Muzan Kibutsuji.
1. Watch Season 1: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc
Start with the complete first season. It introduces the people, rules, conflicts, and motivations that Infinity Castle assumes you already understand.
#1 Best Overall
Season 1 establishes:
- Tanjiro Kamado and his mission to find a way to restore his sister Nezuko after her transformation into a demon.
- Nezuko Kamado, whose unusual relationship with humanity becomes central to the wider story.
- Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, Tanjiro’s fellow Demon Slayer companions.
- The Demon Slayer Corps, the organization fighting demons.
- The Hashira, the Corps’ most powerful swordsmen.
- Muzan Kibutsuji, the origin and leader of the demons threatening humanity.
Skipping Season 1 would mean missing the foundation for nearly every relationship and conflict that later matters. Even if you have seen some clips or know the broad premise, watch the season in full before moving on.
2. Watch one version of Mugen Train
After Season 1, watch the Mugen Train story. There are two versions, but they are not two separate prerequisites. Choose one.
| Version | What it offers | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mugen Train feature film | A shorter, streamlined presentation of the arc. | Viewers who want the fastest route through the story. |
| Mugen Train Arc TV version | Seven episodes, including a television-original Rengoku-focused episode, additional scenes, and additional music. | Viewers who want more context for Rengoku or prefer episodic pacing. |
The TV version adapts the same main Mugen Train storyline while adding material around it. The feature film is completely adequate for continuity; the TV version is not required after watching the movie.
If you prefer physical media, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc Standard Edition Blu-ray is a relevant way to own the seven-episode version. Check the current regional edition, audio options, and seller details before buying.
Can you watch both Mugen Train versions?
Yes, but you do not need to. Watching both mostly means revisiting the same arc. The TV version is worth adding only if you specifically want its new opening episode, expanded scenes, or different pacing.
3. Watch the Entertainment District Arc
Next, watch the complete Entertainment District Arc. This is the mission that follows Mugen Train, with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke working alongside the Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui.

Do not treat this arc as optional background. It develops the heroes’ abilities, expands the role of the Hashira, and establishes consequences that carry forward into the later arcs. Infinity Castle is designed for viewers who have followed this progression rather than for someone jumping directly from Season 1.
4. Watch the Swordsmith Village Arc
Watch the full Swordsmith Village Arc after Entertainment District. This arc continues the Corps’ fight against increasingly dangerous demons and adds important character and world-building information before the final preparation period.

It is not an additional arc. It combines the conclusion of Entertainment District with an early theatrical screening of the Swordsmith Village premiere.
5. Watch all eight episodes of Hashira Training
Hashira Training is the last essential stop before Infinity Castle. Watch all eight episodes rather than treating the arc as a skippable bridge.

The arc focuses on preparation for the coming battle with Muzan Kibutsuji. The Demon Slayer Corps and the Hashira train for the confrontation ahead, making this the immediate narrative setup for the film.
Infinity Castle begins after Muzan appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion and Tanjiro and the Hashira are drawn into the demons’ stronghold. Watching Hashira Training last preserves that escalation: first the Corps prepares for the final battle, and then the battlefield changes abruptly.
For viewers who prefer discs, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc Complete Blu-ray Set contains all eight episodes. The U.S. release includes English and Japanese audio, English subtitles, and a seven-disc package with soundtrack CDs. Availability, packaging, and language options can differ outside the United States.
Can you skip Hashira Training?
Not if you want to understand Infinity Castle’s opening situation. It is shorter than some preceding arcs, but it supplies the direct setup for the final confrontation and the transition into the castle. At minimum, watch all eight episodes before starting the film.
6. Watch Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle I
Once you have completed the five prerequisites above, you are ready for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I.

Optional recap films: what you can skip
Two theatrical releases can make the watch order confusing. Neither is a required extra chapter when you have already watched the television arcs.
| Film | What it contains | Should you watch it? |
|---|---|---|
| To the Swordsmith Village | The end of Entertainment District plus an early screening of the Swordsmith Village premiere. | Skip it if you have watched both TV arcs. Watch it only as a recap or theatrical presentation. |
| To the Hashira Training | The final Swordsmith Village episode followed by the first Hashira Training episode. | Skip it if you have watched Swordsmith Village and all of Hashira Training. It does not replace the full arc. |
These releases were designed partly as event screenings and previews. They are not additional story chapters that must be inserted into the main order.

A spoiler-free checklist before you start
- Have you completed all of Season 1?
- Have you watched Mugen Train in either movie or TV form?
- Have you completed Entertainment District?
- Have you completed Swordsmith Village?
- Have you watched all eight episodes of Hashira Training?
- Have you skipped the recap films only because you already watched the corresponding TV arcs?
- Have you checked the current streaming availability and language tracks in your territory?
If the answer to all six story questions is yes, you can begin Infinity Castle I without needing another anime film or recap.
If you want the complete story in print
The manga is optional and not required to understand the film. Readers who want to continue beyond the anime or own the source material can consider the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Complete Box Set. The set contains all 23 manga volumes, an exclusive booklet, and a double-sided poster. Because it covers the complete source story, it is best treated as a post-anime or spoiler-heavy purchase—not as preparation that you need in order to watch Infinity Castle.

Do I need to watch both the Mugen Train movie and TV arc?
No. Watch one version. The movie is the compact option; the seven-episode TV version adds a Rengoku-focused episode, additional scenes, and additional music.
Can I skip the To the Swordsmith Village and To the Hashira Training movies?
Yes, if you have already watched the relevant television arcs. They are recap-plus-preview theatrical presentations, not required additional chapters.
Is Hashira Training required before Infinity Castle?
Yes. Watch all eight episodes. The arc directly prepares the Demon Slayer Corps and Hashira for the final battle and leads into the opening situation of Infinity Castle.
Is Infinity Castle one movie or a series?
Infinity Castle is planned as a trilogy. Infinity Castle I is the first installment. A release date for Part II had not been announced in the consulted official material.
Do I need to read the Demon Slayer manga before watching Infinity Castle?

The Bottom Line
Watch this and only this before Infinity Castle I: Season 1, one version of Mugen Train, Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and all eight episodes of Hashira Training. Skip the two recap films if you have already watched the TV arcs, and do not watch both Mugen Train versions unless you want the added material.
