Sable mattered to WWE because her career captured a major shift in how the company presented women: from ringside managers and supporting characters to performers who could drive storylines, headline media coverage, and win championships. Her path ran from a 1996 WrestleMania debut and an early partnership with Marc Mero to the 1998 Women’s Championship, mainstream magazine visibility, a 1999 departure, and a 2003 return.
This gallery follows that timeline. The images should be treated as historical and editorial records—not as a collection built only around appearance. Every photograph still needs independent identity, date, event, and rights verification before publication.
1. WrestleMania XII: Sable’s WWE debut
WWE identifies Sable’s first appearance as the moment she escorted Triple H to the ring at WrestleMania XII. At that point, she was not yet the central figure audiences would associate with the late-1990s women’s division. The image is valuable precisely because it shows the beginning of that transformation: a supporting ringside role before Sable became a major WWE personality in her own right.
2. The early Marc Mero partnership
Sable soon became closely associated with Marc Mero, the former boxing champion and WWE performer. Early photographs of the pair place her within the familiar manager-and-wrestler format of the period, but they also document the partnership from which her own popularity began to grow.

That distinction matters. Sable was initially presented alongside Mero, yet WWE’s retrospective material says that her popularity eventually surpassed his, particularly while he was sidelined by injury. A caption should describe this as an on-screen career development rather than imply that the photograph itself proves a particular audience reaction.
3. Visibility during Mero’s injury period
When Mero was unavailable, Sable continued to appear as a visible WWE personality. That period helped separate her screen identity from the wrestler she had originally accompanied. WWE’s account describes her becoming more popular than Mero during this phase, a development that fed directly into the later conflict involving Mero and Jacqueline.
For this image, the date is especially important. A generic ringside photograph cannot automatically be labeled as part of the injury period, so the final selection should come from a collection with reliable event information.
4. The sunglasses-era entrance
By the late 1990s, Sable’s presentation had become instantly recognizable. WWE’s own retrospective material highlights the “Hollywood shades” look, an example of how entrances, styling, and attitude became part of a performer’s character in the Attitude Era.
The sunglasses were not merely a fashion detail. They helped signal a shift from Sable as someone’s escort to Sable as a star with a distinct presentation. A good portrait should show that change without reducing the image to her appearance alone.
5. The Sable Bomb in action
Sable’s rise also included a more active in-ring role. WWE identifies the move known as the Sable Bomb as part of her wrestling presentation, particularly in the context of her feud with Marc Mero.

Action photographs are easy to miscaption because similar-looking moves can appear identical in a single frame. The editor should confirm the sequence using event footage, an official caption, or reliable match documentation before publishing this image as the Sable Bomb.
6. The Jacqueline rivalry
The rivalry with Jacqueline became one of the defining chapters of Sable’s first WWE run. Jacqueline was an established wrestler, and the feud placed Sable’s growing popularity in direct contrast with a competitor known primarily for in-ring ability.
WWE’s material on Jacqueline independently confirms her involvement in the rivalry and the Women’s Championship storyline. That makes a verified face-off or match image more historically useful than an undated publicity photograph: it shows the competitive structure that led to Sable’s championship win.
7. Survivor Series 1998: the Women’s Championship win
This is the central image in the retrospective. WWE’s Survivor Series 1998 event record states that Sable defeated Jacqueline to capture the Women’s Championship. The result marked the clearest formal recognition of her rise from manager and ringside personality to champion.
Captions should use the historical name of the event and championship appropriate to 1998. Do not describe Sable as the first Women’s Champion: the available official material establishes that she won the title in 1998, not that she originated the championship.
8. Sable as champion
A championship-era portrait gives the title win its broader context. Sable’s official WWE profile lists the Women’s Championship as her career highlight, and images from this period show how the belt became part of her established visual identity.

The strongest version of this photograph is not simply a posed glamour image. It should include enough ring, entrance, or championship context to explain why the portrait belongs in a wrestling career retrospective.
9. Mainstream magazine visibility
Sable’s visibility extended beyond wrestling magazines and weekly television. WWE connects her public profile with mainstream appearances including TV Guide, illustrating how a WWE performer could become part of wider entertainment and celebrity-media culture.
The final cover should be licensed from the publication, archive, photographer, or image agency. A collector’s scan or catalog photograph may help locate the issue, but it is not automatically cleared for editorial reproduction.
10. The magazine-era promotional portrait
A studio portrait from this period helps explain the crossover without treating it as a separate wrestling accomplishment. Sable’s image was increasingly presented through the visual language of entertainment publicity, while her WWE role continued to develop through storylines and championship material.
Use neutral language in the caption and surrounding text. If the image comes from a swimsuit-era or other appearance-focused publication, identify it as a period media image and confirm that the publication or agency permits reproduction. Explicit interior photographs should not be republished without a separate license.
11. The end of Sable’s first WWE run
Sable left WWE in 1999, ending the first principal phase of her career. A farewell-period photograph should be used carefully: the available official profile confirms the departure year, but an image from that year is not automatically her last appearance or final match.

Historically, the departure marks a useful dividing line. Before it, Sable had moved from a supporting role to one of WWE’s most visible women and its Women’s Champion. After it, her first WWE chapter became part of the larger late-1990s wrestling-media story.
12. Sable’s 2003 return
Sable returned to WWE in 2003 and remained part of the company’s programming into 2004. The return image should be read against the changed wrestling landscape: she was no longer appearing in exactly the same career moment as in 1996–1999, but her established public identity still carried recognition.
The safest caption identifies the return period without claiming a precise episode unless the photograph’s provenance confirms it. WWE’s official profile is the primary source for the broader 2003–2004 timeframe.
13. The Torrie Wilson or Stephanie McMahon storylines
During the return run, WWE identifies storylines involving Torrie Wilson and Stephanie McMahon. These images show how Sable was reintroduced into WWE’s evolving presentation of women’s characters, which increasingly combined wrestling, celebrity, rivalry, and entertainment segments.
Because wrestling storylines are scripted performances, captions should say “rivalry,” “angle,” or “storyline.” They should not present an on-screen confrontation as a real dispute between the people involved.

Sable’s legacy is also preserved outside match footage. PW Catalog documents a substantial archive of Sable-related material, including magazines, action figures, DVDs, and a 1999 Good Humor cut-out. These objects show how wrestling personalities circulated through consumer products and print culture as well as television.

Seen together, these fourteen images document more than a performer’s changing look. They trace the route from a 1996 debut to championship recognition, mainstream magazine visibility, a 1999 departure, a 2003 return, and a continuing place in wrestling’s collectible culture. The most useful gallery is therefore one that preserves context: event, year, storyline, publication, and rights—not just the image itself.
Image-rights checklist
- Verify that the person shown is Sable—Rena Marlette Greek, later Rena Lesnar—and not another blonde WWE performer.
- Confirm the event, publication, and year against authoritative metadata or licensed archive records.
- Obtain permission from WWE, Getty Images, AP, Reuters, Alamy, the relevant magazine archive, photographer, or other rights holder.
- Do not treat WWE’s “WWE Photo” label, a fan gallery, Pinterest post, Reddit upload, blog, or search result as reuse permission.
- Do not use explicit Playboy interior images without a separate license; a licensed cover, archival advertisement, or editorial portrait is safer.
