“Free Crunchyroll” can mean two very different things. The Crunchyroll Channel is a permanently free, programmed anime channel available through selected free-TV services. The Premium trial temporarily unlocks Crunchyroll’s broader on-demand service, but it is not an indefinite free subscription.
Option 1: Watch the free Crunchyroll Channel
Crunchyroll Channel is a curated, scheduled channel rather than a free version of the regular Crunchyroll app. It plays selected anime programming on a continuous schedule, generally with the commercial interruptions and format associated with free ad-supported television.

Where the Channel is currently documented in the U.S.
Crunchyroll’s current platform information lists these U.S. distribution routes:
- Amazon Freevee
- LG Channels on compatible LG Smart TVs
- Pluto TV
- Roku Channel
- Sling TV

A separate Crunchyroll Help Center listing specifically confirms Amazon Freevee, Roku, LG Smart TVs, and VIZIO Smart TVs. Distribution can change by platform and location, so check Crunchyroll’s latest Channel-availability information if you do not see it in your television or streaming app.
How to find Crunchyroll Channel
- Open a supported free-TV service or compatible smart-TV interface.
- Use the service’s search function and search for Crunchyroll Channel.
- Open the channel or live listing when it appears.
- Choose the current program and watch the scheduled stream.
The exact menus vary. On Roku, for example, look through the Roku Channel or the device’s search results; on a compatible LG or VIZIO television, check the built-in free-channel guide. The important distinction is that you are opening a free-TV channel, not unlocking the complete Crunchyroll Premium catalog.
Option 2: Use the 7-day Crunchyroll Premium trial
Eligible new subscribers can generally claim a 7-day Premium trial. During the trial, Crunchyroll says users receive ad-free viewing, access to the Premium library, and the other benefits associated with the selected Premium plan.

This route is useful if you want to choose an episode on demand rather than wait for a scheduled channel. It comes with two conditions that should not be overlooked:
- A valid payment method is required.
- The subscription automatically renews as a paid plan when the trial ends unless auto-renewal is turned off according to the account’s current instructions.
How to start the trial
- Open Crunchyroll’s official Premium signup page or the Crunchyroll app on a supported device.
- Sign in or create an account if you are eligible to start a trial.
- Select the available Premium plan and review the trial, renewal price, and terms shown for your region.
- Add the required payment method.
- Confirm the trial and record the exact renewal date.
Eligibility is not universal. The standard offer is intended for new and eligible subscribers, and promotional campaigns may use different trial lengths or conditions. The offer displayed on your signup screen is the one that controls your account.
Be careful when turning off auto-renewal
Crunchyroll states that turning off auto-renewal during the trial can end the trial immediately. That means canceling as soon as you sign up may remove your remaining trial access rather than simply allowing it to run until the final day.
If you want to use the full trial, read the cancellation wording shown in your account and note the deadline. Do not rely solely on a calendar reminder if the account’s cancellation behavior or terms have changed. If you decide the trial is not worth keeping, manage the subscription before the renewal date and confirm that the account shows the appropriate cancellation or non-renewal status.

What you cannot watch for free
There is no general, unlimited free version of the full Crunchyroll on-demand service established by the options above. In particular:
- The free Crunchyroll Channel does not equal the complete on-demand catalog.
- A free Crunchyroll account does not automatically unlock every anime series or episode.
- Premium features such as full catalog access, ad-free viewing, profiles, manga access, music, concerts, and other plan benefits may require a paid membership or trial eligibility.
- Buying a streaming device does not make Premium content permanently free.
Because Channel programming changes, it is not safe to promise that a named anime is currently free unless its present Channel placement has been separately checked.

Optional equipment for an older television

Does the Crunchyroll free trial last 30 days?
