Francesca and Michaela’s romance
Netflix describes season 5 as the first season of Bridgerton built around a same-gender central couple. Its creative emphasis is on sapphic yearning, queer joy, and representation within the show’s fantasy version of Regency society.
Brownell has discussed the uncertainty at the heart of Francesca and Michaela’s connection: are they close friends, or is their relationship becoming romantic?
