As of the latest credible public reporting located through Aug. 9, 2026, Michael and Kristine Barnett are divorced and living largely private, separate lives. Michael was last widely reported in or around Indianapolis, Indiana. A public Facebook page associated with Kristine listed Bradenton, Florida, but that is not independently verified as her current residence. Who are the Barnetts and the Manses?
Michael and Kristine Barnett adopted Natalia in Indiana in 2010. Antwon and Cynthia Mans became involved with Natalia after the Barnetts moved to Canada and Natalia remained in an Indiana apartment in 2013. The Manses later took Natalia into their home and, according to later media reports, formally adopted her in 2023.

Calling all four adults Natalia’s “former adoptive parents” is understandable in popular coverage because Natalia no longer lives with either family. It is not, however, a precise statement that both adoptions were legally revoked. The public materials reviewed for this article do not include an order dissolving or revoking either adoption. In particular, Natalia’s departure from the Mans household does not by itself establish that the reported 2023 adoption ended.
The underlying history is documented in part by the Indiana Court of Appeals’ Aug. 25, 2021 opinion. That opinion is especially important because it distinguishes what was legally operative in the criminal case from what was actually established about Natalia’s biological age.
What happened to Michael and Kristine Barnett?
The Barnetts’ story moved through adoption, a disputed age-change proceeding, separation, divorce, and criminal charges:

- Michael filed for divorce in 2014. The divorce was finalized in 2018, according to later reporting.
- Both Barnetts were charged in 2019 with multiple counts of neglect of a dependent and conspiracy.
- Michael went to trial and was acquitted in October 2022.
- Kristine’s remaining case was dismissed in March 2023 after prosecutors said they did not believe they could prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
Those outcomes are legally different. Michael was acquitted by a jury. Kristine’s case was dismissed before trial. Neither Barnett was convicted in the Indiana neglect case, but Kristine’s dismissal should not be rewritten as a jury acquittal or as a court finding that every disputed allegation was false. The dismissal and the prosecutor’s stated reasoning were reported by WRTV and in a notice published by Kristine Barnett’s attorney.
Where is Michael Barnett now?
The strongest public answer is that Michael Barnett was last widely reported to be living in or around Indianapolis, Indiana. That should be stated as a last-reported location, not as live residence information.
Michael participated in Investigation Discovery’s documentary coverage, including a filmed confrontation with Natalia. In that material, he presented himself as someone who had also been controlled or mistreated by Kristine. That is Michael’s account and should not be treated as an independently adjudicated finding.
Forbes reported that Michael appeared to have remarried after his divorce from Kristine and later divorced again, based on secondary reporting. His current marital status and employment are not reliably established. Beyond interviews connected to the Natalia Grace case, he has not maintained a substantial, consistently documented public career or media presence. Where is Kristine Barnett now?
Kristine’s whereabouts are less certain. TIME reported that a public Facebook page associated with her listed Bradenton, Florida. That is a publicly listed location, not independent confirmation that she currently lives there. Court-related reporting had previously placed her in Indiana in 2019, so Bradenton should not be presented as an established permanent move or exact current residence.

Kristine has remained publicly associated with Witch Hunt: The Kristine Barnett Story, a memoir presenting her perspective on the controversy. She has continued to deny Natalia’s allegations of physical abuse, including the claim that Natalia was beaten with a belt, and has defended the Barnetts’ account of Natalia’s behavior. She did not participate in the principal Investigation Discovery documentary interviews in the same way Michael did.
There is no reliable public information establishing Kristine’s current job, finances, marital status, or precise location. The most responsible summary is therefore: a public profile listed Bradenton, Florida, while her current residence remains unverified. What happened to Antwon and Cynthia Mans?
Antwon and Cynthia Mans met Natalia after she was left living alone in Indiana in 2013 and soon brought her into their household. Their family remained involved with her for years. In 2016, the Manses petitioned for guardianship; Michael objected in part by relying on the 1989 age-change order. Later reporting said that the Manses formally adopted Natalia in June 2023 after years of caring for her.
Antwon has been described in entertainment coverage as a Christian pastor or “bishop.” Reports have also described the Mans household as a family of ten children. Those descriptions come from media coverage and may not provide a current picture of the family’s private circumstances.

Where are Antwon and Cynthia Mans now?
The latest public reports located for this article placed Antwon and Cynthia Mans in Tennessee with their family. They had largely withdrawn from public view by 2025. Coverage reported that their joint family Instagram account was last updated on Nov. 23, 2023, around the period when Natalia left. Because the account’s handle has been rendered inconsistently in published coverage, it is safer to refer to it simply as the family’s public Instagram account unless the account is independently verified.
No credible report located through Aug. 9, 2026, establishes a newer state of residence, a current professional update, or the family’s exact household arrangements. An exact address would not add meaningful public-interest information and should not be inferred from property records or people-search websites.
The most defensible wording is that the Mans family was last publicly reported in Tennessee and has largely stepped away from public view. Why did Natalia leave the Mans household?
According to the documentary coverage and subsequent reporting, a major flashpoint involved Natalia’s online relationship with a man in the United Kingdom who was publicly identified as Neil. The Manses said Natalia was being manipulated. Natalia sought help from Nicole DePaul, who traveled with her daughter from New York and picked Natalia up outside a church in the Nashville area in late 2023.
Season 3 of the documentary presented recorded comments from Antwon and Cynthia in which they described Natalia as an enemy or accused her of turning against the family. Natalia then lived with the DePauls. Later reporting described continuing tension and some contact between Natalia and members of the Mans family, but no dependable public source establishes the relationship as of August 2026.
This sequence comes from documentary material and interviews, not from a final court finding about the family’s personal relationship. The competing accounts are one reason a current status article should avoid saying either that the Manses and Natalia are definitively estranged or that they have reconciled.
What are the allegations against the Manses?
The allegations against Antwon and Cynthia Mans should be separated from established legal outcomes. Former housemates, neighbors, and other people interviewed in documentary coverage alleged that Natalia was struck with a belt, slapped, locked in a room, or otherwise mistreated. Other allegations concerned the treatment of children who had lived in or been cared for by the Mans family.

The financial questions are similarly unresolved. The Indiana appellate record states that Natalia received approximately $733 per month in federal disability benefits while living alone. During Michael Barnett’s trial, Cynthia testified that the Manses charged Natalia $250 per month in rent and taught her basic literacy and financial skills.
Later documentary coverage raised questions about who controlled Natalia’s disability payments and whether money was directed to the Manses or their church. A reported text from Cynthia asked whether she would remain Natalia’s Social Security payee after Natalia left. These details prompted allegations and questions, but they do not by themselves prove financial exploitation.

No criminal conviction or civil judgment establishing that the Manses misused Natalia’s benefits was located in the reviewed public coverage. The careful formulation is that the documentary and participants raised allegations about control of benefits; the public records reviewed do not establish that the Manses stole or improperly used the money. What is Natalia Grace’s legal age?
The age controversy has three separate layers: the original records, the 2012 legal order, and later medical or DNA-related evidence.
- Original records: Natalia entered the United States in 2008 after adoption from a Ukrainian orphanage by a New Hampshire couple. The Ukrainian adoption documentation described in the Indiana appellate opinion listed her birth year as 2003. The Barnetts’ Nov. 3, 2010 Indiana adoption decree also listed 2003.
- The 2012 order: In June 2012, the Barnetts petitioned to change the birth year from 2003 to 1989. The petition relied on age estimates from a primary-care physician and social worker. The Marion County probate court issued the change order 11 days after the petition. The appellate opinion noted that a guardian ad litem was not appointed and an evidentiary hearing was not held at that stage.
- The 2021 appellate decision: The Indiana Court of Appeals held that the 2012 order was not void and could have preclusive legal effect in the criminal proceedings. In practical terms, the state could not simply relitigate the age issue in that case. The court did not make an independent modern scientific finding that Natalia was biologically born in 1989.
- Later testing and records: In 2023, documentary coverage reported that TruDiagnostic DNA-based epigenetic testing estimated Natalia’s age at approximately 22, consistent with a 2003 birth year. Media reports also said that her birth year was restored to 2003 during the Mans adoption proceedings. Neither result supports the misleading phrase “found guilty but got off.” Michael was not convicted and then released on a technicality; he was acquitted. Kristine was not acquitted by a jury, but neither was she convicted. A dismissal is a different legal outcome from an acquittal and should be described accurately.
The 2021 appellate ruling was also narrower than many summaries suggest. It addressed preclusion and related procedural issues surrounding the 2012 age-change order. It did not settle Natalia’s biological age for all purposes, nor did it decide every factual dispute among the adults.

Natalia leaving the home and living with the DePauls are important changes in residence and relationship; they are not automatically changes in legal parentage.
The most accurate wording is that the Manses were reported to have adopted Natalia in 2023, Natalia later left the Mans household, and the public reporting reviewed here does not establish whether any later legal action changed that relationship. Readers should not be told that the Manses definitively remain or definitively no longer remain her legal parents without the relevant official adoption or dissolution records.

- Michael Barnett’s current employment and marital status after reports of a later marriage and divorce.
