Taylor Swift leads the night
Swift won seven awards in total. “Fortnight” earned Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Editing and Song of the Summer. Swift also won Artist of the Year and Best Pop.
The result brought her career total to 30 VMAs. That tied the overall record associated with Beyoncé. The distinction is that Beyoncé’s total includes awards won as part of Destiny’s Child and The Carters; Swift’s 30 awards are all credited to her as a solo artist. That made Swift the most-awarded solo artist in VMA history.
