DocumentaryTube’s “Antichrist (part II)” listing presents the item as part of a series about ancient prophecy and divination, but it does not identify the underlying program or confirm its historical claims. To understand the subject, it helps to distinguish the plural “antichrists” in the Johannine letters from later Christian ideas about a single end-times adversary—and to keep the Islamic Dajjal distinct from both.

What is “Antichrist (part II)”?

The DocumentaryTube listing, dated January 12, 2023, introduces a series that asks whether ancient prophecies anticipated modern events. Its description mentions subjects including the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Nostradamus, the Knights Templar, and Frankenstein. The listing does not clearly name the program’s producer, creator, original release date, or broadcaster, so those details should not be assumed.

The listing’s questions about whether ancient prophets knew the future are promotional framing, not evidence that a prediction came true. The title is also used by unrelated books and religious talks; for example, a resale listing for David W. Dyer’s Antichrist Part II: Time and Judgment Series does not establish that his book is the program hosted by DocumentaryTube.

What does “Antichrist” mean?

The word is associated with the Johannine letters of the New Testament, where the language includes multiple antichrists as well as “the spirit of antichrist.” Later Christian apocalyptic interpretation often emphasizes a climactic adversary. These usages belong to different textual and interpretive contexts, so the term does not have one uniform meaning across all Christian traditions.

Theologian Jon Paulien’s reading of 1 John and 2 John stresses deception and false teaching within the religious community. In his interpretation, the antichrists are not simply hostile outsiders or a future political ruler. Paulien describes this reading in “The Concept of Antichrist, Part II” (January 26, 2014).

A digitized Encyclopædia Britannica entry discusses the development of the later Antichrist figure in connection with Jewish apocalyptic traditions and historical memories of Antiochus IV Epiphanes. This is historical context; it does not mean that every biblical passage about the Antichrist refers to Antiochus.

Christian Antichrist and Islamic Dajjal: a comparison

Topic Christian Antichrist traditions Islamic Dajjal traditions
Sources and textual setting The Johannine letters and later Christian apocalyptic interpretation. Hadith and later Islamic literature; Stephen Lambden’s overview notes that the Dajjal is not mentioned in the Qur’an.
Number and timing The Johannine letters speak of antichrists in the plural; some later interpretations also anticipate a climactic future adversary. Traditions describe an eschatological adversary associated with the end times.
Role In Paulien’s interpretation of the Johannine letters, deception and false teaching are central themes. Comparative accounts describe the Dajjal as an eschatological deceiver or adversary.
How to read the evidence Distinguish biblical texts from later theological interpretation and historical analysis. Distinguish hadith and later literature from comparative scholarly proposals about relationships with other traditions.

Lambden’s comparative essay discusses possible relationships between Dajjal traditions and Jewish and Christian apocalyptic material. Such proposals are scholarly discussion, not proof of a single, settled history of borrowing. The essay page says it is under revision and was last revised January 5, 2018.

Can a modern person be identified as the Antichrist?

The sources reviewed here document religious texts, interpretations, and historical context; they do not verify the identity of any contemporary person or group as “the Antichrist.” Claims of that kind should be presented as someone’s interpretation or belief, not as established fact.

FAQ

Is there one Antichrist or are there many?

The Johannine letters use the term in the plural as well as referring to the “spirit of antichrist.” Some later Christian apocalyptic readings also focus on a single ultimate future adversary. Which emphasis is used depends on the text and interpretive tradition being discussed.

How does the Islamic Dajjal relate to the Christian Antichrist?

Both are discussed as adversarial figures in end-times traditions, but they belong to distinct religious sources and interpretations. Comparative scholars have discussed possible connections among traditions; that does not make the figures identical or establish a single borrowing history.

Does the Qur’an mention the Dajjal?

Stephen Lambden’s overview says the Dajjal does not appear in the Qur’an and discusses traditions about the figure in hadith and later Islamic writings.

Does the documentary prove that ancient prophecies predicted modern events?

The listing’s description raises that question but does not establish that any prediction came true. The available identification information also does not confirm the underlying program’s production or substantiate its claims.
