Stephen Fry scrutinizes the story behind the making of the first media entrepreneur, Johann Gutenberg, who is also the inventor of the Printing press, in this documentary titled The Machine That Made Us.

Fry undertakes to find out how and why did Gutenberg do it and involves historical as well as practical references. To find out about the various aspects of Gutenberg, like how Gutenberg kept his development work secret, about the role of avaricious investors and unscrupulous competitors and why Gutenberg’s approach started a cultural revolution, Fry travelled across Europe and then eventually got down to build a copy of Gutenberg’s press.
