The Internet, or the World Wide Web, was created in 1969. Created by the United States Department of Defense, it originally served as a means of secure communication.

Nowadays, the internet has more than 1 billion websites. The milestone was first reached in September of 2014, and confirmed in October 2014.

Nowadays, more than half of the population of the world has access to Internet. Or more precisely, 55.1% of the world population. That shows we have a long way to go before we are fully connected.

The history of the World Wide Web is long and rich, and this documentary helps you understand how we got here. From the epic battle between Netscape and Microsoft, with billions of dollars at stake, the Internet has gone through many transformations.

Check the documentary about the origins of the Internet.
