Robert Norman Ross was an American painter, art instructor, and a television host. He created and hosted “The Joy of Painting”, an instructional television program airing from 1983 to 1994 on PBS.

There are more than 400 episodes of the Joy of Painting. He did three copies of every painting on the show. According to some rumors, he made over 30,000 paintings in his lifetime.

And those are not cheap nowadays. An average price of an original Bob Ross costs around $9,000. Bob died in 1995 of Lymphoma.
