This award winning 2001 documentary takes us inside the rogue nation of North Korea and shows images many of us have never seen. This is one of the few times the west was able to glimpse into North Korea’s way of life and government.

  1. Well it’s all subjective right? I mean we used to take the bible as face value, but can’t do that as much anymore due to the advancement of knowledge, such as the world now known for being millions of years old, there being space above the Earth (which would contradict the tower of Babel story) and the fact that two people is not a large enough gene pool to kickstart the human race.

  2. Ahh okay. And no, I wasnt really getting grief about it. The topic I was originally on had nothing to do with homosexual alone and I wasn’t taking any sides. I was pointing out the hypocrisy and ignorance of some person who said that Christians support adultery, murder, homosexuality, hatred, sex, and serial killing. Stuff that even non-Christians know to be false.

  3. Say what you like about Christianity, Jesus never held political power in any form, he was a prophet, not a prime minister. While Kim Jong Il had complete control of his country’s government- and used that power to starve, torture and murder his countrymen. and no one is forced to worship Jesus anymore, the inquisition is over. but people are still forced to worship Kim Jong Il, even though he’s responsible for the death of 10% of North Korea’s population, in peacetime.

@slipriprock7 I’ve been to America before. It’s really impressive. Everything there is considered cheap compared to my country here in Singapore. The food there is good and there are many beautiful sceneries.Singapore is in Southeast Asia, about 7000 miles away (18.5hrs airplane ride away) from Los Angeles. So I can’t go there often, though it’s really a good place to visit.

  6. You are so deep in ignorance there is probably no use in educating you. I’m assuming you are the product of some third-world country. The Bible, as well as Christians in general, are completely AGAINST adultery, fornication, alcoholism, homosexuality, crimes, hatred, and serial killing.Anyone with even a microscopic amount of knowledge of Christianity would know this. I pity you and the fact that you’ve been terribly brainwashed.

  7. Once again, your incompetence and desire to jump to conclusions, based on absolutely nothing, amazes me. 1) You know nothing about me so why do you automatically think I worship Jesus? 2) There is a difference between “showing respect to your leader” and worshiping them like they are a god. Oh, wait a second. Weren’t YOU the one that hates people that worships human beings? So then you should hate North Koreans just like you hate Christians right?

  8. why do you worship a son of man like Jesus? and why do you criticize North Koreans for showing respect to their leaders? What good deed Jesus had done to humanity rather than spreading adultery, fornication and alcoholism ?

  9. @RaincloudPlay Or a much better idea, buy a plane ticket to Seoul, talk to any of the 23,000 South Korean citizens who escaped from the north. I think they understand the situation far better than some Leftist with a camera.

  10. @RaincloudPlay I’m sorry but I have to disagree. If you want to know what North Koreans think, don’t bother with documentaries by western journalists, don’t bother with secondary sources by American historians, read the memoirs of Kang Chol-Hwan, Shin Dong Hyuk, Lee Soon Ok, or Kim Yong, read any of Hwang Jang Yop’s writings- basically, read what people who spent their whole lives there have to say about it. then you will realize your media is not “exagerating” anything but is understating it.

  11. @SuperCardusan Don’t think that I would expect you to change your views. One,bigots, especially those who are prejudicial, are often stubborn as a mule and are bull-headed as a, well you got it.Two you are free to think how you want whether it’s right or wrong; however you should at least think twice about what you set your mind into, especially when you choose to allow yourself to be taken by hate towards a group of people.

  12. @cultofmao It was MacArthur who suggested to use the A-bomb but the target he spoke of was China as it joined the war on the North’s side. However,Truman rejected it as it could have sparked a WW3 because China had a mutual-assistance pact with the USSR.Prior to and after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, there was opposition coming from military leaders, individuals and organizations. How do you know that the US has political prisoners in the present? It’s actually 2-faced.

  13. DaniarRanger says:

@MrSarmaftw You are of course allowed to have that opinion. It’s also not my belief that capitalism is the perfect economic system. I find it frightening how states intervene in the so-called free market and bail out big corporations. That doesn’t make any sense. But a capitalistic system in which individuals are free to make investments is not the perfect system, but still the best system for creating jobs and wealth, and ultimately a better living standard for ordinary people

  14. MrSarmaftw says:

@DaniarRanger first of all thank you for replying normally and not being troll.you are right, actually not a single country made true communism and probably never will,BUT capitalism isnt solution neither its eating every country and it will make almost everyone obsessed with money (it actually already did) and the part of us which makes us human=feelings will die and only money will control everything.it would be a sad end to what we used to be,humans.politics only bring problems.

  15. DaniarRanger says:

@MrSarmaftw How can you be so sure? Lenin was in many ways completely ruthless towards anyone who did not believe in the revolution or could “threaten” his agenda. Just face it, every attempt to create a communistic society has failed with great consequences. Just don’t try to justify the means by implying that an implementing of communism hasn’t succeeded because people aren’t yet smart enough or whatever you think. That is exactly the idea behind what’s going on in North Korea

  16. If anyone wants to know what North Koreans really think, watch A State of Mind or any other documentaries by Daniel Gordon. He’s allowed to film whatever he wants, as his documentaries are on sports. The people in his documentaries are also allowed to say what they want.Of course North Korea has bad in it, but not as bad as the media makes out. The media knows people like to form (negative) opinions, so they times everything by 10.

  17. cultofmao says:

How can a documentary be fair in a country surrounded by enemies and in a state of siege. The United states “The great Satan” its last act of the Korean war was to threaten to use the atomic bomb against the North and had to be taken seriously as it had not long used it against the desperate to surrender Japanese killing civilians. The USA is obsessed with Terrorism and its government has also imposed a repressive system with plenty of political prisoners. USA is the worlds greatest Terrorist.

  18. MrSarmaftw says:

NORTH KOREA DOESNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH COMMUNISM,its really sad.if Lenin or Marx saw this they would never make revolutions because their idea of making ideal world only made huge amount of greedy imperialists, something contrary of what they wanted.IM A COMMUNIST MYSELF AND THIS MAKES ME SICK.i hope his successor will rot.

  20. patrick says:

its pathetic to see vain worship of a mortal yet his reputation is pegged on the hard work of the people.the people who are supposed to be honored are the peasants and noble citizens . for how long will dictator ship last , it destroys the people who create it. all you see is sycophancy and a glossy whitewash of the real situation which is poverty, diseases, oppression and low self esteem. this is the hallmark of third world nations , the truth is always swept under the rug…. lies have short legs that cannot finish a 100 meter dash let alone a damn 42 km marathon.it reminds me of peter tosh`s song vampires ( 1970s) in which he derided politicians with their lies and oppression.
