Astronomers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge,  Massachusetts, spotted the super dense planet using the HAT Net global network of automated telescopes. The HATNet global network of automated telescopes, scans a large fraction of the Northern Hemisphere sky every night.  These astronomers have finally discovered the second planet i.e. HAT-P-2b and were astonished with their discovery about this Planet.

Scientists further came out with more information like its temperature and gravity power. They also compared that with Earth and were really dazed. HAT-P-2b has a temperature ranging from 1000 to 2000°C,gravity 15 times stronger than Earth, and a year that lasts just 5.6 of our days. It is also one of the odd planets in the cosmos.

The unusual gas giant located 440 light-years away in the constellation Hercules, turns out to be the  most massive planet found outside our solar system so far. Watch this documentary to know more about the Weirdest Planets.

    With so many planets, it’s not difficult to understand that life will happen where the conditions are just right. So while most planets are too close or too far from their sun, don’t have the right chemical composition, don’t have a magnetic field to protect from solar winds, and/or don’t have a large moon to stabilize its orbit, there are times when a planet has them all. We’re one of those planets. I’m sure there are others. It’s all really cool.

  2. Since many viewers are science aficionados, I got a announcement.Interstellar space travel is absolutely impossible no matter how long our civilization lasts. There will never be a human being make it outside of Mars orbit, EVER. There’s never going to be some amazing new invention that changes this reality. We’ve pretty much took technology to it’s limit, exhausted all possibilities. Any new technological advances will be very incremental or just unrealistic sci fi type stuff.

    wobbling ‘theory’ discovering`’? is wobbling.. making that star a bit dizzy of all that lurching-wobbling caused by a planet in its system?Would mean that our Sun with so many planets around..gets really bananas..Hence its yellow color?etc?Then..if the ‘observers(astronomers) couldnt even see that planet before ‘wobble-observation’how/where did they get any info about it at all? Lowering the volume want save.. anybody..get a job?become veg(etari)an?veterinary observers?instead

      your so narrow minded, conciseness is the next step in technological advancement you just cant comprehend it in the same way you couldnt explain any recent technologies to someone from 200 years ago

    @RRReid294 I agree, there hasn’t been any evidence that I’m aware of, but absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.The calculation did not consider the number present. You assume exactly 300 pieces somehow existing by themselves. What happens when there are trillions? each one has a trillion chances to pair up with another. Those pairs have 500 billion chances to pair with another. Those have 250billion chances and so on. It’s not just a matter of the number of possible combinations.

    @WaySide66 Unfortunately that is how random chance works (the number of possible sequences multiplied by the number of media used to achieve that sequence)Let me just sum this up by saying i don’t write off life but i’ll wait till i see the evidence, to which there has been none so farI was in the casino last Friday in Glasgow and was playing roulette and it landed on “25″ 5x in a row, odds of nearly 70,000,000-1,Gargantuan unlikely odds but it happenedLife is unlikely but it could exist

    @RRReid294 That’s not how it works. The number of possible combinations in no way reflects the actual chances of something happening. What are the odds of a straight flush in poker? A new deck of cards is already has 8 in a row. Life is inevitable in the universe, you just need an environment not completely hostile. As a boiling pot of water will still have condensation on it’s wall, so does the universe. As all the matter evaporates into energy, there will be condensation in the form of life

    @WaySide66The numbers you have quoted mean nothing there are billions and millions of stars/galaxies so what vastness doesn’t prove life, plus life needs specific chemical reactions to be conceived, there is no proof thus far of life elsewhere however I am not ignorant and don’t write it off, it just seems highly unlikely.As life after all is/was random chance.

    @WaySide66 …i.e. what they concluded was…assume that the ribozyme is 300 nucleotides long (to which ribozymes usually are between 250 – 300), and that at each position there could be any of four nucleotides present. The chances of that ribozyme randomly assembling are then 4^300.This number is based on an educated scientific experiment to calculate the random chance of life assembling (this of course excludes variables, that may have existed to which we will never be able to recreate)…

    @WaySide66 First of all the number 4^300 is based upon an experiment NASA Scientists carried out where scientists tried to recreate the chemical reactions which caused basic organisms to take on the form of amino acids and DNA and RNA to which they failed miserably, The number is based upon what they believe created life as we know it and what all life regardless of shape or form needs RNA, DNA (Ribozymes & Nucleotides) and also was based upon the random chance that life could somehow “Start”

    @WaySide66 But, to be far, it’s not known how many of those planets could support life like ours, and of those, if they have the chemical makeup to even start the process. The fact is, no one knows, but in my view; it is possible, and even likely. We may never know though.

    @RRReid294 I’m calling BS on 10^180. Where did you get it? If there are a million of the “A” molecules that need to combine in a certain way with a million “B” molecules, that’s already 10^12 chances, and 2 million molecules is a like a few grams, if that. Maybe there are 10^23 planets in the universe, (200 billion star x 300 billion galaxies x 2 planets/star) , each with uncountable chemical reactions occurring on the surface every second of every day. That’s a lot of chances to get it right.

    @WaySide66 I am a really big fan of Derren Brown and love his work and watched that episode and your right it took ages to get 10 in a row but…There is a clear difference between 3550-1 and 4.2 Novemquinquagintillion-1 odds (Excluding variables) of ribozymes and nucelotides (Basic building blocks of life). being duplicated again and manifesting life in some other way.I don’t deny that life maybe could exist elsewhere but as i say I’m a realist and believe the odds are just too small.

    @RRReid294 There’s a video of Derren Brown flipping a coin 10 times in a row and having it land on heads all 10 times. The trick? He spent like 10 hours in front of a camera flipping the coin thousands of times. The moral is, that life is unlikely, but with enough Goldy Locks planets, You get pretty good odds of it happening

    @K31TH3R I am well aware of the strange creatures of the deepest and coldest parts of our oceans as well as the ones that live in the most extreme conditions on earth, and find it both miraculous and also admirable.However for me due to the small odds of complex life (not simple baterium, organisms) being modified or duplicated in some way i can’t see life elsewhere.

    @RRReid294 Life is found at extreme pressures under oceans, thriving on volcanic vents, extremely high altititudes, trapped under ice and even on the damaged lid of the exploded Chernobyl Reactor where even a second of exposure would kill a human with radiation.We could not even hope to survive in the places that life exists on Earth, this fact alone should be more than enough proof for anyone that the chance for life forms on other planets is not only probable, but definite.

    @RRReid294 A comment such as yours is surprising under a video that precisely talks about other planets having been found (760 so far, almost all discovered in the last ten years, and the number is growing quickly).If the model of solar systems such as ours is, as it begins to seem likely, the norm in the universe, then even with small chances of life emerging, it is probable that we are not alone.

    @dunnono00 Fair comment and i respect your view.However for me it is just way too small chance of life happening elsewhere think of everything we have Sun, Orbital distance, Atmosphere to contain life, Magnetosphere to protect us against solar weathering and harmful cosmic activity, Gravity being at the right factor for us to move around freely.All this being replicated again or indeed modified in some way elsewhere in our universe, really?

    @RRReid294 Whether it’s a miniscule chance, a great chance, or any degree in between, that’s something difficult to state with certainty. We’ve only detected something like 400-500 extrasolar planets out of potentially millions in our galaxy alone. With the state of our current instruments, any observation of those 500 will be sorely limited. We’re talking “light wobbling” and “artist’s depiction” limited. The evidence you speak of is too scant to deny life arising elsewhere.

    we couldnt be alone in this universe , its almost mathematically impossible, everything that we are made of is abundant in the universe and there are too many stars with multiple planets . i dont believe we have been visited by aliens , the distances and tech involved would make it highly improbable

  20. @3dzocker Maybe they don’t show themselves to us because they’ve already discovered a million other civilizations 1000 times more advanced and interesting then Humans, and they have as much interest in us as you have interest in a random ant nest you walk by when you’re going for a walk.
