It is America’s favorite condiment. Ketchup is a staple in every kitchen in America, and around the world as well. There is no fast food restaurant without extra ketchup in their menu.

Nowadays, we know ketchup is made of tomatoes. But tomatoes were not the base of ketchup always. The early versions of the condiment included anchovies, oysters, lemons, walnuts, or shallots.

This documentary shows the process of making ketchup, but also talks about the early history of America’s favorite condiment. Watch the video and you will find out a bit more about ketchup, and even see how you can make it at home.

The video might be short, but it is well enough to show everything you need about ketchup production.
