Our genes carry the incredible information about our past. It is this genetic information, which affects our present, because the only way forward is to look into the past. This documentary explains the science of genetics and its impact on our future life.

A gene is the basic unit of heredity in living organisms. The field of genetics before modern molecular biology, but is now known that all living things depend on DNA to pass on their traits to their offspring.

Genetics is a discipline of biology and the science of heredity and variation in living organisms. The fact that living things inherit traits from their parents has been used since prehistoric times to improve crops and animals through selective breeding.
However, the modern science of genetics, which seeks to understand the process of inheritance, only began with the work of

Gregor Mendel in the mid-nineteenth century. Despite not knowing the physical basis of heredity, Mendel observed that organisms inherit the traits of a discreet, these basic units of inheritance are now called genes.

  1. Khomeini and Iran do not represent the Muslim world to say the least..if anybody really wants to know and learn about islam grap a quran and start reading.

  2. theVIIStar says:

don’t be so hard on yourself based on your family – you know it’s wrong and can use your internal sense of right and wrong instead of just trusting what religious leaders say. from there you can help other people see through the fog of faith! ^u^

  3. 3eemy says:

extremely disgusting ,even more so for me as i come from a family that were his followers and preached his teachings, well only his moderate one’s at least , but still..

  4. theVIIStar says:

    wow – didn’t know that – that’s really sick. :/

  5. 3eemy says:

yeah Khomeini , he actually made it legal In Iran to marry children aged 3 and above however to show his humane side he prohibited sexual intercourse with them until the age of 9 , however they are free to touch and do everything else except intercourse , this much worse than what any church has done ,at least the priests have the ‘decency’ to cover it.

  6. theVIIStar says:

you mean Ayatollah Khomeini? I was speaking generally. Between Mohammed marrying a 6 year old and others following suit because of it – and the catholic church covering up kiddie sex abuse I fail to see what good religious books actually do. They give no knowledge, such as the concept of genes, space time, mathematics, etc, and the morality is non existent.

  7. 3eemy says:

which religion allows sex with children , are you talking about khominei?

  8. theVIIStar says:

funny that genes aren’t mentioned in any religious books… they tell you who to kill and that it’s ok to have sex with kids… but nothing of actual use… just sayin’.

  9. Fassoman says:

no need to disrespect Allah, you piece of shits

  10. MrDBarch says:

that area she’s describing, at 5:10 where the packet of genes leaves the father and goes into the egg of the mother, feels really good…. just sayin’, for all the muz limz reading this, well, the males at any rate.

  11. I suppose I should rephrase that last bit: where did this trans-generation system originate from? Before one could say “oh, it was some random mutation that gave this type of organism a survival advantage”, but is it? Could this be a successor system to a similar but less advantages inherritence system, something those organisms have learnt? Could we, one day, develop a whole new system that can, maybe, pass on not only experiences, but memories also?Yep, I’ve found my thesis.

  12. This is incredible, it opens up a whole new level of understanding when it comes to genetic problems or even family traditions. Where did a disease originate from? Before one could say from a mutation, but now it’s becoming impossible to trace. Are family traditions followed because it is taught that way? Or is it that the younger generations are just reliving what their parents have gone through? Or their grandparrents for that matter. The question I want to ask now is: where did this start?

  13. RosmaroEsp says:

heartscience is another stupid muslim (following the con-man Muhammad) to hijack NOVA.We should report him

  14. Keep your religion to yourself. As a matter of FACT if it were up to your particular religion man would be in such a backward state most of us would be starving to death….

  15. Only 9 months ? I’ve saw this movie a long time ago and the relation with the other’s never change my form of thinking. That’s irrational. A man with personalite belives in them ideas. Madness ? To all of that ideas are inconvinently be used. Look at Frederick Nietzech and revolution in the philosophie’s thinking, after his death.

  16. Boris194786 says:

It would be interesting to know what kind of events, other than the ones mentioned in the documentary, would switch genes on or off.Did the changes that Darwin’s finches underwent by living in different islands of the Galapagos were caused by natural selection or the survival of the fittest or by the effects of epigenetics?

  17. 2eelShmeal says:

    Allah Smallah…

  18. wcdeich4 says:

In addition to the message about Allah in the beginning, there appears to be little messages every so often in red letters. What do they say?

  19. GoleZahra14 says:

    Absolutely fascinating. Thanks for sharing.
