The enemies of reason is a television documentary in two parts, written and presented by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins. Is it rational that the dead can communicate with the living and give advice on how to live their lives? What about sticking pins into your body to free the flow of Chi energy and cure your illness?

O bending spoons with his mind alone? Is that rational? Richard Dawkins does not think so, and feels it is their duty to report to the areas of belief that exist without scientific proof, however, manage to keep the nation under his spell. He will face the world’s leading proponents in their field of expertise, meet the victims who have used them and expose the history of movements – from the charlatans who have milked these practices to the experiments and tests have not produced conclusive results.

Dawkins points out that some of the achievements of science and describes it as the release of most of the people of superstition and dogma. Picking up his superstition-reason distinction in the root of all evil? (While recycling some pictures of him), then says reason is facing an “epidemic of superstition” that “impoverishes our culture” and enter gurus who persuade us “to escape reality.” He calls this day in dangerous times. Return to the achievements of science, including the fact that, by extending the life expectancy of people, helping them to take more advantage of living. He turns his attention to astrology, which criticizes the stereotypes without proof.

  1. For years I thought that the zodiac stuff was nonsense, couldn’t be proven, how does it work, etc… But I’ll tell you what, mine is dead on, and so is my mother’s and father’s. I’m rational as hell, but there are some very specific points that correlate to me, like really, really specific things.

  2. sonykroket says:

You can twist it anyway you like. Say we would agree with your claims about Einstein, it still doesn’t prove anything about the supernatural. But again, Einstein did not believe in any of the concepts called god as proclaimed by the superstitious

  3. drumdadio says:

well I believe it was blind faith in the first place that led people to believe that the world was round, and it was blind faith that led einstein to theorize about traveling at light speed. One can just as easily prove there is a God as one that can prove there isn’t.

  4. Please do not insult those who work with quantum mechanics and compare it to religion. Quantum Mechanics makes extremely accurate predictions. Just because the particles involved are so microscopic that we are not able to see them, does not mean that we need blind faith to know they are there. Quantum mechanics has been proven over and over again by way of experimentation, and real life application. You cannot, however, make predictions about god.

  5. drumdadio says:

although that’s true that he didn’t believe in a personal God, he did acknowledge that the idea of God is similar to a child walking to a library filled with books and although the child can’t come to a sensible conclusion as to how they got there, the child still knows that they were written by someone.

  6. They seem to me to be opposing ways of thinking.Believing about the world with evidence vs. Believing about the world without evidence. It isn’t just the contradiction between reality and religious claims. If you are just going to accept some things only with evidence and be content believing others without evidence, then your worldview isn’t really formed on a consistent basis.

  7. BornInTzyon says:

I respect Mr Dawkins & his views, but I must disagree w/ his statement at 27:06 that “science is always open to new possibilities”. By science he means scientists. By nature, humans infect most everything, science included, wi/ their ego or agenda, it’s influenced by money, etc…which is evident by his statement, in reference to bats. He said the zoologist demonstrated experimentally, bats using sonar. This theory outraged his colleagues 27:50.. Why if they’re “always” open?

  8. Richard Dawkins is in no way suggesting that. He is simply promoting the use of rational decisions. He fully acknowledges as anyone should, that everyone has freedom to believe in any religion. Its rather ignorant for anyone to say that you can only have religion or science because any true catholic will believe in both evolution and creation and anyone else can too. I would also like to know where your getting the 50% figure from because im pretty sure thats inaccurate.

  9. KingDcome11 says:

Richard Dawkins is misleading people into thinking YOU MUST choose, either science or religion. The reality is that you can actually have both. Almost 50 % of leading scientists in America are religious people of people who believe or have some type of faith.

  10. Ordeal1000 says:

Care to update yourselves for the sake of being human. We took all the troubles by doing dangerous Experiments not Mr Dawkins. We have created Human out of Giant Ape Orangutans for Real. You can repeat our Process in your lab at any moment of time, you will still get Human outs of the Orangutan 100% confirmed. To Make Human exist in the Nature is done via Revolution not Evolution. It is Reversible as well. Then “Who” made us all Humans in the past? Read the Experiment at godsurety . org

  11. JustOneEarth says:

@TheScienceFoundation I’m sure he meant that the people who thumbs down the video are those who disagree with its contents, and therefor the ones who we’d most like to watch it. The small number of dislikes indicates that very few people who need this information are getting it (from this video). He’s lamenting that the video seems to only be preaching to the choir.

  12. @prezoftheworld Does Dawkins realize that in the name of reason, hundreds or thousands of people were killrd during the French revolution. Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao thought it reasonable to kill millions to further their goals. Reason, untempered by faith is just as dangerous as faith without reason.

  13. papwalker99 says:

From the book of n’Brith. And an angel appeared to Noob who dwelt in the house of b’Ush. Travel to the land of Sol and there thou wilt find Scholars and harlots. Thou shalt fill the harlots tabernacles with molten bronze that they be sealed from the seed of men. Harken not to their screams or tears for just is the lord. Leave them to rot upon the earth for a day and half a day. Those of tender years shall not be left but after a time have their vaults cleaved and be hang upon the branches.Amen.

  14. tensorbundle says:

@SpaceWineTV Ask that psychic how to unite quantum phys and general relativity? You can blow up the world of physics by this revolutionary knowledge. Next year noble prize would be yours too. Ask him if you really are convinced that in your case his foretelling was correct not a coincidence.

  15. SpaceWineTV says:

@SpaceWineTV I am not in anyway saying that what Dawkins claims is b.s., although, from my experience, I do believe that out of all the obviously fraudulent psychics and astrologers, there might be some legitimate fortune tellers out there.

  16. SpaceWineTV says:

February of 2010 I went w/a friend to see a ‘psychic.’When I entered the room had the same skepticism as most people thinking the psychic would just give me general readings, but she told me very specific things. She said in May I would be in a relationship with a girl whose name starts with “N,” and that in August I would get a promotion, and that I would get in a car accident in 2011. I left and completely forgot about all those predictions, only to remember them when they had all come true.

  17. ghostframer says:

@Janusha There are more religious believer in the US than in any other first-world country. And other countries do not want the US run by religious bigots looking for the end times. Hitchens (until his death) was living in the US and is an American citizen. Both he and Dawkins are continually invited onto news shows, debates and college campuses to speak. People in the US want to hear what they have to say.

  18. Janusha says:

@ghostframerImi not really a person that struggles with the end of faith in any shape. Im more concerned with the amount of people that actually do. As such its freakshow weird to see how 2 enlightened, educated and intellectual british people make a good living and a healthy career out of travelling around USA telling people there is no god. I mean… do we REALLY need to be told this ?

  19. ghostframer says:

@TheNimbusMan You may only want to hear what other religions have to say, but the believers want you to believe what they believe and if you don’t they are prepared to make you. The Muslim faith (and the Koran) is dedicated to world domination. Non-believers must convert or die. Christians in the States want to force their beliefs into your schools and government. And some cultures have disgusting traditions like genital mutilation. It is not a perfect world of love and understanding.

  20. Janusha says:

@SB9101Americans have a kind of pathologic aversion towards any foreign influence. Their attitude is often extreme such as their foreign policy “you are either with us or against us”. Anything which isnt american is anti american, anything which isnt christian is anti christian. Its really about nationalism tho. With their “Gods own country!!” and their constant “God bless America” Its about their unshakable belief in their own superiority that no amount of bankruptcies and “reality” can shake.
