‘The Divine Michelangelo’ takes the viewers through the life and one of the most significant works of this versatile genius.

The film was made by BBC ONE on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the most famous sculpture in the world – the David sculpted by the master himself.

Michelangelo’s artistic genius as sculptor, painter, architect and poet is well known in history; he adorned the ceiling of the Sistine chapel with most awe-inspiring painting; and one of the world’s greatest buildings – the dome of St Peter’s, the jewel in the crown of the Roman skyline.

Michelangelo, born in 1475 lived a long and fulfilling life for 90 years. In the span of his eventful life, he made some of the greatest masterpieces of all times; his work made people wonder in amazement. Known to be a complex personality, Michelangelo was a driven and gifted human and adored art, beauty and God till the end of his life, which were the forces behind his inspiration and motivation.
