Original Wing Chun
This documentary takes a critical look at the origins of the Wing Chun art, a Chinese martial art that specializes in close-range combat by scavenging the rare and early days’ footages of Bruce lee and Yip Man.
It is very difficult to find out the traces of this art’s history because this art was originally transferred verbally from the teacher to the student rather than being documented, making consistent accounts impossible. The Wing Chun art has been attempted to be demystified by discerning its roots by determining the specific purpose of its techniques.
Nevertheless the art started to appear in independent third-party documentation during the era of the Wing Chun master Leung Jan, making its history a little credible.
The name Wing Chun, as legend says, comes from the name of a young woman, Yim Wing Chun, who learns this art from a Buddhist nun- Ng Mui, one of the Shaolin sect survivors, to defeat the warlord and avoid his marriage proposal; she ends up marrying Leung Bac-Chou and also teaches him the style, who named it after her!
