Katie Piper: My Beautiful Face

Katie Piper (born October 12, 1983) is a former model and television presenter Andover, Hampshire in England.

Piper had hoped to have a full time career in the media, but in March 2008 in north London, sulfuric acid was thrown in the face of Stefan Sylvestre.

The acid attack, which blinded in one eye Piper, Piper was organized by ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch. Sylvestre and Lynch were both arrested and are serving prison sentences for their crimes.

Piper was treated at Chelsea and Westminster hospital, where surgeons removed all the skin of his face, before returning to a skin substitute and then a skin graft. The procedure was the first of its kind to be completed in a single operation.

In 2009, Piper decided to give up their anonymity, to try to increase awareness of burn victims. The Channel 4 documentary, Katie: My beautiful face, was broadcast on October 29, 2009 as part of a series of Cutting Edge, and repeated on Christmas Day 2009.
