At the time of writing 21/vii/2012 there are 5 other comments listed for this documentary. I have no idea what these other comments are talking about as none of them seem to relate to the video I have seen.
I am commenting on ‘Inside Special Forces’. I found it a garbled collection of You Tube US army recruitment video shorts and more or less pointless viewing unless you are interested in joining the US army special forces and want footage of the assessment process. But maybe my links were not working correctly since the video montage started and ended in mid-sentence before switching to someone demonstrating how to put on a beret. Say what??? I was too bored to search for the missing pieces of the documentary and gave up.
From what I have seen, I think this collection of video might appeal to young teenagers — boys who have outgrown playing with Action Man / G.I. Joe but are not yet ready for adult life and meanwhile like to have fantasies about being a Green Beret.
Nothing else to say, really, there is no ‘documentary’ here i.e. as far as I can tell there is no narrative, analysis, critical thinking or anything emotionally or aesthetically engaging in these bits of video. Disappointing. I was hoping to find out more about what sort of person becomes a Special Forces operative and what justification they give themselves for doing this work. Guess I will have to look elsewhere for answers to those questions.
