I Knew Bin Laden
I Knew Bin Laden is a documentary that talks about the worlds most wanted man Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader, who was shot dead in a US raid near Islamabad.
The man was finally captured and put to death after a ten year long hunt.
The film shows that prior to his death he was last seen in 2001 when he was running from his stronghold in Afghanistan. He continued to issue several video and audio messages in subsequent years.
The feature posits questions like how did Bin Laden develop his political agenda? And how did Osama son of a rich construction magnate joined guerrillas in Afghanistan fighting the Soviet Union and ended up being a one of the most feared men in the world?
The film showcases the interviews conducted by Ahmad Zaidan, Al Jazeera Arabic’s Islamabad correspondent. He interviews Taliban commandos, former Mujahideen leaders, Pakistani officials, and journalists who all relate their memories of and insights into Osama Bin Laden.
He speaks to people providing opinions that question some of the myths and describe some of the characteristics of the man who was Osama bin Laden who was alternately denounced by enemies as a religious fanatic and a terrorist and praised and worshipped by his supporters.
