Grizzly Man
For 13 years, Timothy Treadwell spent his summers on the peninsula of Alaska, living among the wild bears in the last five years, recording his life there. His winters were spent visiting elementary schools and making appearances on television, in an effort to educate people about the status of the animals he loved. This continued until October 5, 2003, when Treadwell and his girlfriend were attacked and killed by a bear.
Using images of Treadwell, as well as interviews with friends, family and local authorities, the director Werner Herzog crafts a fascinating documentary about his favorite themes: obsession, madness, and man’s place in nature. Herzog, who plays an active role in the film, identifies with Treadwell, even though their world views are at opposite ends of the spectrum.
Addressing the camera, Treadwell, who had no formal training with animals, he saw himself as a “kind warrior” who was there to protect the bears from poachers, developers and others who would do them harm. But others saw him as a deluded crackpot, suffering at least from a naivete about her role in the lives of bears. (When waxes poetic Treadwell on a pile of fresh bear dung, it is difficult not to agree with them) … (Barnes & Noble)

That bear done him a great service.
So what about his girlfriend that he dragged into his delusions? Don’t try to romanticise what this nut job did, he endangered others because of his narcissism. And he didn’t help the bears one bit.
That made nooo sense ,, lay off the crack bro

I totally disagree with Herzog’s agreeing with TT that what TT was doing was living with wild nature. It looks to me that TT was utterly ignorant of wild nature and animal behaviour. By pretending that the bears are Disney characters and telling them he loved them he was doing just the opposite : he projected idealised human relationships onto wild animals (by believing that the human emotion of love had any sort of relevance or meaning when dealing with bears). Nothing romantic here!
latent homosexual
he was as camp as the tent slept in.
What an abnormal idiot!I feel sorry for the poor girl who didnt want to be part of all his madness but still fell for it.Did he ever try understand human the way he tried with non-sense bears. Many animal lovers are way beyond extremism!
same, haha
if that was the bear that killed them, why didn’t it do it right there when amie was in front and tim filming. I mean if a bear was really hungry he wouldn’t be waiting around for long looking for food, like he was desparate for that slamon. i reckon a bear was stalking them from the last film here, returning to the camp and eventual attack later.
This guy was on his personal egomaniacal endevour. The animals were a pretext. That’s fine because we all get into things for the worng reasons, but the thing is he didnt learned anything in 15 years. He persevered in his delusion even when he fulfiled his fantasy. He didnt even bond with them, he didnt treat them right. The bears where indiferent with his presence. They were his toys. He was The Protector, when nobody needed protection. Bare in mind Im speaking as a disturbed individual myself
wow, this is deep, his critics need to know this guy didnt want anything else, u can see the love he has for these animals is titanium strong!!! is like he saw his death coming, he was acting strange at the end!!! great documentary!
@nzhamstar Danish government issues 10mm Glocks to its forces in Greenland who might encounter polar bears. Also double tap makes a round 230 grain hardball that I witnessed shoot through 8 inches of logging timber and shatter cement blocks. Now hamster man I know if you don’t know how to shoot you’re screwed with any handgun, but I know id rather have 16rds of that hot glock food than 6rds of .41mag!
well if you are going to plan on hanging around you might want to learn that not everyone is serious and people bothering you lightly doesnt make them stupid or morons. the only people who could be considered stupid morons would be those without humour getting upset by the humour that they ought to be know they will see when on the internet…..
lol. people like you annoy me more and more. just because i want to SEE the aftermath of a tradegy, does not make me a sick person. “morbid curiosity” – EVERY HUMAN HAS IT! some are more tuned into it, and others may deny they have it bcus they “don’t LOOK” to find morbid stories. but everyone has it. it just depends on the degree they can handle. EVERYONE would look if driving past a bad accident, even tape it! it’s the same thing. just a lower case of it.
He was an ill, delusional, and bizarre man who died through his own utter disrespect for the animals whose lives and territories he actively encroached upon. But he was happier and more contented than most of us will ever hope to be.
It’s amazing to me how all kinds of people pass judgement on this guy by calling him “fruity” or gay or whatever… But at least he knew who he was… Unlike the majority of you… Yes he died by the bears but he obviously knew the risk when he started. I say good for him, and screw the people who are to naive to understand. I’m a big fan of joe rogan also, but the fact that he’s obsessed with this guy being gay when he wasn’t… That should send red flags….12 year olds unite now…
The sad part about this is the park rangers had to kill 2 bears because of this idiot!!! And if you take the time to learn the real story you will find that just before she died Amie wanted to leave Timothy and return home . She felt her life was in danger being with him.
I had honestly bveleeid that you were hoping to be inspired to be challenged and pushed beyond what you ever bveleeid you were capable. You are always courageously challenging others. Indeed, I had given up hope on ever truly being challenged by anyone I had let let it go categorized it as a mere pipe dream. I contented myself with challenging myself and underachieving for everyone of my professors.Until I met you and you drew your sword and challenged me to a dual. Of course, you won, which is to be expected. How can the disciple ever be anything but beneath her master? What you felt was me cutting you from dialogue at the airport felt like something else to me. It felt to me as though two glorious swords had clanged suddenly together in a true challenge between sisters. I truly bveleeid we were in each others lives to keep each other sharp and focused to see through each others bull *BEEP*..and call each other out on it.You had challenged me. I thought you were like me: craving a challenge.According to Isaiah 61, the heaviness and darkness are no more. If you and I are experiencing their taxing burden today, you can rest assured that it is something inside of me and something inside of you that needs changing. When we walk about wearing the yoke of that heaviness/darkness the angels would be laughing, if it were not so tragic. For, we are walking about with a fictitious burden. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me (upon Jesus Christ),because the LORD has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness (from unnecessarily dark and dreary castles) for the prisoners To proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor We no longer have to work to attain righteousness, sis. We no longer need to hold onto old beliefs that no longer work. We do not have to harbor resentments, for the vengeance of God is just this: I shall cancel your criminal record, if you will cancel the others criminal offenses committed against you. We do not have to build walls and sit to tea with Sir Fear anymore. As for emotional sophistication, well our Father in Heaven certainly does not model this in the prophets. Read Isaiah 58. Then, skip over to Isaiah 61. If God seems a little schitzoid in these books, it is because GOD IS LOVE. LOVE deplores emotional sophistication and moral superiority. And the love of God is blocked from flowing through me whenever I harbor fears and resentments. Our true and genuine righteousness is an INHERITANCE in Christ. We are one day to be clothed, not in our own pathetic man-made righteousness, but in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. How do we enter into God’s promised rest?1-Stop doubting and believe.2-Ask anything in Christ’s name and you will receive it if you believe w/out a shadow of doubt that you have received it. BUT, you must first go and be reconciled with those against whom you hold grudges, so that your Father in Heaven will forgive your crimes.Assignment for you:Ponder the following. The Pharisees followed the law to the letter. They were truly quite astonishingly morally dominant and superior individuals seriously, I am not kidding they were. They slaved to follow every jot and tittle they worked work, work, work, work, work They worked incredibly hard for their upstanding reputations among their society! What crime did these humans commit that Jesus should say to them, Woe to you Pharisees you are in danger Think about it Christ never said any such thing to the prostitute who sat anointing him nor to the low down, rotton, no good tax collectors who he befriended (and one of whom he chose as a disciple). He never turned to the notorious criminals/sinners and said, Woe to you criminals you are in danger Who was more ready and prepared to enter into the rest that God had promised to Israel back in the Old Testament? The Pharisee or the notorious sinner? It is better to give up on our pipe dream of ever becoming righteous, than it is to hold onto this hope. Our hope is in Christ Jesus. Our shield is Christ Jesus not our works. Our good works are mere adventures that we are going to one day be pinned with decorations for having done them! You know the crowns we are to receive??We cannot be shrewd for the kingdom if we are in shackles. God respects shrewdness for his kingdom. We cannot be shrewd, because in shackles and chains we are not free to take risks we are too afraid to take risks. Our era will demand that we be very shrewd, while vowing to admit we have resentments and committing to facing these and working with God to bail them out of our hearts! Only then can we also be gentle as doves. Love Ya Sis,Katie
