Evangelical Christians are a relatively recent political group. In Friends of God just a few of the estimated 60 million evangelical Christians are interviewed. We see their views on religion and politics along with how they see religion and politics should be intertwined.
These people are superstitious at best and just plain crazy in the worst of kind of way. I should know. I spent a few years within there congregations and listened to hate being pushed on unsuspecting simpletons for most of it. It got really absurd right after the election in 2008. These guys are dangerous and should have their tax exempt status revoked. They continuously promote far right politics in every sermon they make. Its like, they go out of their way to do so, even at the risk of heresy. The sad part is that many people who are otherwise good law abiding citizens are being manipulated into hate filled bigots. Hypocrisy runs rampant in those halls. I used to shudder at the stuff my kids came home with. Swords and guns and shields. They were talking about the WAR on Christianity in Bible Study for kids. We live in the most religiously tolerant countries in the world, what war on Christianity? They need to stop lying to our children and stick their noses in the Bible instead of politics. BTW, You do not use fear to convert people. Jesus preached Love and Compassion, and only God can convert someone, and that’s from the inside out. Also, They need to stop being so damn defensive when someone talks to them about their faith. Truth needs no defense. It’s not about WHERE we go after we die! It’s about WHAT we do while we’re alive that counts!
