Deliver Us From Evil
Filmmaker Amy Berg tells a harrowing tale of child abuse and how a serial pederast was free for most of two decades in this documentary. Oliver O’Grady was a Catholic priest who served in several parishes in Southern California during the 1970′s and 80′s. O’Grady was also a pederast who abused dozens of young people were usually entrusted to their care, while his superiors in the Church knew about O’Grady’s crimes in 1973, we chose to simply move from one congregation to another rather than surrender to authorities or strip him of his ordination.
In Deliver Us From Evil, a number of O’Grady’s victims and their families talk about their crimes and the repercussions are felt to this day. O’Grady also appears in the film, speaking candidly about his career as a sexual predator and recounting his misdeeds in detail. (After being convicted of child sexual abuse, O’Grady time in prison and now lives in Ireland, where it is still run by the Catholic clergy.)
Berg also offers a look at the history of the Catholic Church and how its leadership has often protected those within the hierarchy, at the expense of their worshipers. Deliver Us From Evil was named Best Documentary Film Festival 2006 in Los Angeles.

There are pedophile rapists just like there are are gay rapists and straight rapists. Does that mean that all pedophiles/gays/straights are rapists? There is a difference between a sexual attraction (pedophilia) and a crime (rape). Most pedophiles would never harm a kid because they love them. Just like most heterosexuals wouldnt rape or hurt a woman.
Homosexuality was and also (and still is) considered amoral and certainly pathological by “most of the civilized world”. 50 years ago you couldnt say anything positive about gays, because everyone believed that gays were “perverts”. A consequence of that is that gays were forced to stay in the closet, reinforcing the belief that they were sick… now exactly the same happens to pedophiles. Pedophilia is just a sexual orientation, in the same way heterosexuality is just a sexual orientation.
nonsense, that’s a self-deluding belief. Pedophilia is not only considered amoral by most of the civilized world but certainly pathological. It destroys young lives and by that notion alone is evil, especially when it is so prevalent within this particular religion.
You cannot be found guilty of pedophilia. Pedophilia is not a crime. Many pedophiles have never commited a serious crime in their lives. Most pedophiles live normal lives and are not child molesters. You just never hear of them because they cant come out of the toybox because of the great stigma associated with being a pedophile. But most pedophiles are good people, you only hear about the bad ones because that is what attracts the media.
So pedophiles have the same rights as gays and heterosexuals to be priests. Being a pedophile priest is not wrong: being a child molester priest is. Some pedophiles are religious people who help others, are kind, compassionate and honest, who love and respect everyone, specially kids. But they were born with a different sexual orientation. That doesnt make them worse though. They can still be great persons and many pedophiles are that.
Why people cant differentiate between having a different sexual orientation (being a pedophile) and committing a crime (being an abuser)? Pedophilia refers to a sexual orientation. What romantically and sexually attract you. And some people are naturally attracted to kids just the same way others are attracted to the same sex or the opposite sex. But that doesnt mean they are “unmoral”. That doesnt mean a pedophile is “evil”: it just refers to a sexual attraction, not to morality (or lack of it)

When was the last time you heard of a protestant minister or Muslim religious leader abusing a child? Yet there are statistically more child abuse cases within these religions! FACT! So why are the Catholic church cases always reported to such an extent? This is because there is so much venom towards the C.Church because it is the true church of Christ. And it has always been attacked.
