The 2004 earthquake in the Indian Ocean was a submarine of mega-thrust earthquake that occurred at 00:58:53 UTC on December 26, 2004, centered on the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.  The same quake is known by the scientific community as the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake. The resulting tsunami is given different names, such as the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004, the Asian tsunami, the tsunami in Indonesia and the Boxing Day tsunami.  The earthquake was caused by subduction and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing more than 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 meters (100 feet) high.  He was one of the worst natural disasters in history. I was on the west coast of Sumatra near Acheh on a highland trek and saw something like a 60m wave hit a barren coast. It simply towered over the coconut trees.

  7. I honestly think that English family are just exaggeration and being dramatic. All five of them are totally fine without a scratch on them. I do not think the wave was large where they were they just want to get on the telly.
