According to the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, testosterone is declining in American men to the alarming rate of one percent per year. But why? That’s what Oscar Boyson Casey Neistat and tried to find truth in his film An emasculating.

Ultimately, the film goes beyond this issue to promote ongoing dialogue on the current definition of masculinity in the light of changes in gender roles. Boyson, film producer and emcee of the camera, came to some very personal conclusions about what it means to be a man today, turning the camera on himself and asks the question “what does being a man ? “

“Masculinity is not something that people often think,” Boyson said. “Our goal was to find a representative sample of people and ask, what does a man mean to you? This is an issue where there is no middle ground much and wanted to know why. “

The facts speak for themselves. Men suffer more than their fair share of layoffs in the last year (80 percent to be exact), to the extent that women now outnumber men in the workforce for the first time in history. Moreover, women outnumber men in higher education at the undergraduate and graduate students, with nearly 60 percent of the graduate school beneficiaries are women.

Children – our future men – are not out of high school at an alarming rate, 4.9 percent versus 3.8 percent for girls, and being diagnosed with ADHD at rates three times higher than the of their female counterparts. In short, manhood is in danger … or at least undergo a major transformation in the way of the future new state.
