Alien Planet
Imagine a world like ours, only 6.5 light years away – but filled with life forms unlike anything found on Earth. Take a simulated trip in the near future, where astronomers and biologists alike admire the potential to Darwin IV, a nearby planet with two suns, 60% gravity and an atmosphere capable of supporting life.
Having identified Darwin as a likely home for life, scientists send a series of unmanned probes to the planet. Initially, the expectation is to find microscopic life. But the probes soon find themselves in the middle of a developed ecosystem, filled with various creatures of all sizes.
Looking through the “eyes” of the probes, marvel strange inhabitants of the planet – like the heavy Groveback, which supports a small forest vegetation in the rear; Prongheads deadly hunt in packs, like wolves, and the elegant Gyrosprinter, an elk-like creature with a body of luminescent biolights points.
The look and the biology of each animal is based on the laws of evolution and physics, then the model to fit the hypothetical environment of Darwin IV. Leading experts in the fields of paleontology, astrophysics and astrobiology explain how these creatures could evolve the characteristics of another world, such as hollow bodies, propulsion “jet” and skewers pierced tongue.

There’s plenty of examples of evolution if you just look hard enough. And everything is just a theory. Theory’s can’t be proven. A theory is accepted until another theory that better explains the situation appears. Germs causing disease is just a theory for example.

This is cool but I don’t think that it is real because technology that they are displaying companies are just starting to commercialise these things and even now they are expensive,this would of cost trillions to produce in real life. Also it isn’t smart telling an alien planet what we look like. Also cameras that are small for us are extremely low quality there cameras cant be good quality
I loved this documentary when I first saw it.The planet has less gravity than here on Earth,so it makes sense that alot of the life is large or able to fly.My absolute favorite of all the probes was Balboa,mainly because I can relate to him alot.But Balboa blew up on conta-EXACTLY
Every year is the “magic” year since I was in elementary school they’ve always been one step closer, and planing a trip here and there. You never hear anything about these projects after they happen. Until I actually see and hear the end product of the new exciting journey my Hopes aren’t going anywhere.
I am not talking about them, I’m talking about everything else (except that giant grey thing). He works on allot of stuff actually.Oh yeah, in a movie like Avatar, you are forced to make the main characters human like or else the audience can’t connect with them. Haven’t you ever noticed that they stuck out from the other creatures; they were the only ones with 4 limbs.
A waste of tax dollars….no. The problem is that we NEED these exploration programs. Many of the problems we have could be addressed for the long term by taking space exploration seriously. Overpopulation,water shortages,over mining…all these issues can be dealt with by putting space and all it’s potential resources within reach. Not looking into these options can be fatally short-sighted. But what do I know,lol. I’m just an uneducated ex-grunt whose been working the Texas oilfields..
I think what amazes me is the violent hate ppl seem to want to aim at this video. Its facinating! Not really ment to be a ” bible” of space travel and alien species. But an awsome, unique, artistic way to view a possible planet far removed from anything we comprehend! Come on have a lil fun people!

@FroaggaLaMajaga actually not to be That Guy, but it was established fact that the world was round in ancient Greece. The idea that we recently thought the earth was flat is a misconception based… i forget on what but i want to say some sarcastic thing from literature. Anyway, we knew 200 years ago that the world was round.
@chocolatewitcream humans no. But why not these animals? There is water and oxygen and good temperature. A bit of a coincidence maybe that they look a lot like our animals.. But there is nothing on this planet that suggests it cannot support organic life.
