40 Years on Track
In 1972, the International Railway Union celebrated their 50th anniversary. To mark this jubilee, they created InterRail, a rail pass
that allowed travellers to explore Europe freely for the period of 30 days.
What started as a mere travel product, became in a new way for European youngsters to not only discover the continent they live in
but also interchange with other peoples and cultures, playing also an important role in Europe’s unification and even the resolution of
conflicts like the cold war or the Yoguslav wars.
Filmed in 20 countries, with the testimonials of more than a dozen travelers from different nationalities, this documentary illustrates
the impact of the InterRail phenomenon in Europe in the past 40 years.
